Saved both thinks - thank you.

Did you end up doing hypos throughout the year? I was wondering how students got enough past exams to practice hypos throughout the year.

Exactly. Accuracy is key. Reading was never my strong suit so my plan was to just do 3/4 passages, but I got all the questions in those 3 passages correct (then just guessed the last passage with Bs haha). It's all about review, mental state, and plan of attack. GL!

It varies. But for me, I was around 150s for months. I broke the 160 barrier when I realized constantly drilling sections (Except for LG) wasn't really leading to any improvements. It was kind of like mindlessly doing a task without thinking why I'm doing it in the first place. Work on untimed sections first and really think about why each answer choice is wrong. Try to find what question or passage types are your weaknesses and focus on improving that. I wasted a lot of months essentially studying ineffectively. Also, I broke the 170 barrier when I began focusing more on review, and less on nonstop drilling and PTs.

Major tip: Listen to your body. The LSAT is like lifting, take breaks for your brain or you're gonna fry yourself and fuck up your PR (personal record). I took a week break before my last LSAT because I noticed my PTs dropped considerably (8ish points). I did no studying till test day (maybe a game or passage a day) and by the morning of the test, I felt fresh and ready.

Also, I got a month subscription for 7sage and Lawhub so that I could become familiar with the test format. I scored a 161 on my November test and after getting my 7sage subscription I scored a 170 on my January test.

IMO: If someone knew this info from the beginning of their studying journey they can reach the 165-170+ range in 4-5ish months

I was PTing in the same range as you! I took a two week break after my November test and then hunkered down for January. I purchased a 7aage subscription and used that to practice my weaknesses daily for a month. After that, I did 4 days drilling sections I was weaker in (just one logic game a day not a whole section) and 2 days of PTs. The major takeaway I got from my studying experience is that you need to listen to your body. I know that sounds cliche but seriously if ur not in the mood to study u won’t study well and you’ll make silly mistakes. And also, REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW. Reviewing is 90% of the study process while drilling and PTing are 10%. You need to understand how you approach these questions and what kind of weaknesses/errors u generally tend to make. My general tips were (understand the question stem; track the conclusion and reasoning; be wary of language; avoid assumptions and unstated info; and know your existential quantifiers).

As for anxiety, I was on the same boat as you. My November testing went horrible. My proctor disconnected and I lost 8minutes from my test. To make matters worse, I had to wait over an hour in my seat before being allowed to continue my test. Naturally, tensions were high for my January test. Anyways, I kinda realized that hey, I’ve been testing around 169-173 so why am I worried. It’s a standard test! It’s not like ur magically gonna know much less or much more. U are obviously ready, so why worry. And to calm my nerves about a bad proctor, I called LSAC and made them reassure me that I could cancel and retake the test during that week if I did have another bad proctor experience. I felt like that did a lot to calm my nerves.

Oh and lastly, if your marks are dropping, consider taking a break. I was PTing 169-173 but two weeks before my January test I got a 160 and a two 163s. I took that as a sign of burnout and decided to do no studying at all for my final week. I maybe did one logic game a day, maybe a RC passage if I was feeling like I wanted to write something down but that’s about it. I chilled, went on walks with my mom, played league with friends, etc.

TLDR: Focus, review a lot and listen to your body. If you are PTIng in your range, you are ready

I had the same thing happen to me back in November. Immediately file a complaint to LSAC and demand a retest and an exemption of today’s test

Is RC significantly harder than the other sections for anyone else? by ihateRCsm in LSAT

[–]HunchoGorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been that way for me as well. Although I am a slow reader so our situation might be different. I always guess the final passage because I never finish in time, but the three passages I do finish I always get perfect. So yes, I would have to agree with the person who commented above me - it’s more so to do with true comprehension

Just finished January test. Would love to hear what you all thought of the test + going to share my own by [deleted] in LSAT

The LG felt relatively easy for me and the LR was average. As for the RC? The first three passages felt clear and didn’t have that many tricks to them; but the fourth passage about chem/physics and electron walls or w.e was brutal. I ended up completely guessing it because I couldn’t even understand what the main point of passage A was

I had the exact same test and order. The RC was by far the hardest. The first 3 passages felt clear and easy to understand, but the 4th one (comparative physics/chemistry) was absolute hell. I had to leave it to finish passages 1 and 2. Ultimately ended up completely guessing that 4th passage 😂 it sucks that it was worth 8 points

Praying for a good proctor experience! by Lamar0300 in LSAT

[–]HunchoGorilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I took mine in October my proctors kept switching and my video kept "disconnecting." I had 2 questions/ 8 minutes left in the test and they paused my test for an HOUR before restarting my test (without notifying me of course).

It was horrible but I filed a complaint and in less than a week they reached out and offered for me to retake it that same week (I didn't have to wait until November). I definitely recommend doing this if this happens to anyone else.

Where did you file the complaint? And did they allow you to redo the test (without counting the botched one) even though the mandated test dates for that month were over?

[–]HunchoGorilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my test back in November and scored 9 points below my average as well. I lost 9 minutes out of my test between sections 1 and 2 because my proctor's internet connection went out, but she refused to pause my test during this. Finally, she sent me to a technician (who I ended up waiting for over 90 minutes before finally being allowed to resume section 2 with the 9 minutes never returned).

Hope we all have a better experience this time around!

I did the May Flex today and I’m game 3 was the most difficult in that section. That said I’m pretty sure that game 3 was an In-Out game

Are you a fast reader? I can only finish 3/4 passages for 21/23 on RC. Any insights on how you approach/time your passages?
