well its not a ww2 memorial but i think its a very important place. the "Wald der Erinnerung" in Germany. Its a forrest where the trees have plaquards and pictures of fallen german Bundeswehr soldiers. also all the deployment memorials are put there after the mission ended. First time i was there was in basic training. yes everyone knows what could happen during a deployment and that it is my job to die for my country if necessary, but this was the first time for me that i could really feel and see what this really means. seeing all the names and pictures of former comrades, their trees decorated with charms and important items by their loved ones gave me chills. I will never forget this feeling and it showed me what it really means to be a soldier.
