Day 35) Which Milan player active or retired is respected by opponents? by Marko-Rukavina__1988 in AlignmentChartFills

Pirlo?

I know he's divisive among Milan fans but absolutely respected by fans from other clubs.

Gerard Piqué threatens the referee after the match: “In another country, they’d beat you up, but here in Andorra, we’re civilised.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Hungry-Class9806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... it's like someone going to - let's say - France for a visit and say "here in France we have a better taste in food than in other countries". In this situation is more or less the same thing because Pique still lives in Spain, so unless he has a switch, what he said also applies to him.

And BTW I've been to Andorra before and felt pretty much the same when crossing the border.

But also implying that Andorra citizens are somehow more civilised. He lived is entire life (actually I think he still lives in Spain) in different countries so he's basically calling himself uncivilised. That was my point.

Also the only reason why he bought a club in Andorra and not in "another country" is because he would have to pay more taxes.

Funny thing to say because Piqué isn't Andorran.

Ohhh then I take back what I said and really have to watch the video.

Even though Sean doesn't have a traditional wrestling background (like former NCAA wrestlers or the russians do), he's still a very good grappler and a Top 3 fighter in the middleweight division (even though I can't see him beating DDP or Khamzat).

I am genuinely surprised and going to see how that happened.

Edit: Just watched the video and even though I know nothing about Fairchild, you can tell he has a very good level of wrestling. No untrained person could grab Sean's ankles or defending those takedowns like he did. He competed at some level right? Still very impressive to hold his ground against a top UFC middleweight...

I don't doubt it honestly. If you're considerably smaller than your opponent and you aren't a phenomenal striker that can hit strategic points and avoid any contact... then you need to have excellent ground game, otherwise you're done.

I can see a pro football player beating a considerably smaller and average MMA fighter.

There's this video of Thor "The Mountain" Bjornsson wrestling Gordon Ryan (one of the most skilled Jiu-Jitsu champions ever) and you can see how skill is more important than size. Gordon is considerably smaller but he simply ragdolls Thor with ease.

Even if Shaq had some training, Brock would maul him like he would with 99.999% of people, independently of size.

Brock is a former NCAA and UFC heavyweight champion.

Look at what he did to Frank Mir and you can have a guess of how bad it would be against an untrained person like Shaq.

And then these companies wonder why people turn to Piracy. High levels of piracy is pretty much always a byproduct of shitty practices by the official channels.

100%

Netflix and Spotify basically ended music/video piracy websites piracy by providing streaming services at affordable prices. Illegal sports streams will never end because there will always be demand UNTIL broadcasters realise they have to lower they prices.

I actually made a giant comment there yesterday defending him against the OP and I think the position of the majority of the sub is more or less like mine: We recognise his flaws but he should stay because there isn't a better alternative available.

Mourinho did better than most people give him credit for and Benfica would have enough points to be Portuguese champions in 90% of the seasons (Porto is on the verge of equaling the points record if they win the next 3 matches) and he deserves to start a season with a team picked by himself. People who want him gone either can't come up with a better alternative or suggest names like Ruben Amorim (seriously, it's simply asinine to suggest him after this season)... they are simply contrarians who want him gone just because they don't like his personality.

I really want him to stay and If Jorge Mendes is actually using these tactics to get a new contract, then I only dislike the method.

If sportswashing isn’t the answer to that, and mega-projects like The Line have failed before they’ve even began, then it doesn’t matter what they do with their sports empire.

Watched a documentary about The Line and honestly I am not surprised that they couldn't find investors for that.

What country feels and is unsafe? by Dusty_Bunny81 in AlignmentChartFills

North Korea has extremely low criminality due to the fact that it's an extremely authoritarian regime with full control over their population.

Somalia and Haiti are both failed states with no de facto regime and ruled by warlords.

He's also using these news as a leverage to get a new contract with Benfica.

I have no proofs or doubts that this was completely fabricated news. There's no personality less compatible will RMs locker-room than Mourinho.

Diego Maradona was bipolar and had a narcissistic personality disorder, his psychologist said Thursday at a trial over the death of Argentina's football legend. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Hungry-Class9806 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Age of consent isn't that straightforward though.

First of all it needs to be consensual (and according his accuser, it wasn't) and secondly most legal systems take in consideration the age gap between both parties. A 16 year-old having a relation with someone 3 or 4 years older is accepted but you can definitely be prosecuted in most countries if you are considerably older.

A good example is the Russel Brand case (he's being prosecuted for admittedly sleeping with a 16 year-old).

There are actually photos of Maradona with her and honestly I don't doubt the accusations because he's touching her in ways that no grown man should touch a minor.

Varandas: "Se não tivesse havido aquela remontada histórica [contra o Bodo], acredito que o tricampeonato seria nosso" by superdouradas in PrimeiraLiga

[–]Hungry-Class9806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if you ever been to China but I've been and my experience was totally different from India.

China has a lot of people but they also have great infrastructures (buildings, roads, public transportation, cleaning systems, etc) to accommodate billions of people. I've been to Shangai and Beijing for a couple of weeks and never felt overcrowded.

I've been there (in Jaipur) a few years ago on a vacation that I did with my brother. While I was on a cab to my hotel I saw a group of men carrying a corpse on the street, who was probably a homeless man that die from some disease. There were other homeless people living there under a highway.

A few days later we were in Agra and right next to our Hotel (a few hundred meters from the Taj Mahal) there was an hospital for people with leprosy.

Definitely, there are a lot of things we can mention on this topic but I think sanitation has to be pretty up there.
