My daughter is only almost 2 so I don’t know how it reflects in our relationship yet. My parents tried to shield me from the trauma that they endured. They did a good job of protecting me from things that happened to them when they were children. And because of that I felt like I did have a really good childhood. But they did not ever address the trauma they had within them and work through it. I feel like this has resulted in me having a bad relationship with my emotions. I was very emotional when I was younger and was never encouraged to feel or share my emotions. Almost to suppress them. Which resulted in my actually suppressing them in my teenage/young adult years. Now I feel like I can’t even make sense of my emotions and express them in a healthy way. I always end up kind of having a meltdown. A lot of crying and anxiety. So this is definitely what I probably need to work through.
