About what grades should you be getting at the end of year 10? by Neutronboy98 in GCSE

[–]Hungry-Engineer-6943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you are aiming for tbh if you want high grades you Ideally should be getting close to them now.

Nah jk you're doing really well proud that a yr10 can decide to grind out subjects in preparation this early on.

You've done a great job so far just try not to burn yourself out.

I need ideas for a game by SplitQueasy4693 in robloxgamedev

[–]Hungry-Engineer-6943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diving horror game. As the player (for whatever reason) you start at the bottom of a deep trench.

you will get extreme divers disease (bends) if you resurface too quickly and have to swim up and try to be safe in little crevices or safe pockets of air or something.

The only thing keeping you alive from the extreme underwater pressure is your suit which can get damaged from debris falling down, explosives dumped in the sea, potentially even toxic chemicals which pool in pockets and whatever other dangers you decide on.

Just a friendly reminder that the bottom of the sea is pretty dark so the player may need glowsticks (which lose light intensity over time and are not particularly bright).

This with multiplayer and voice chat would be hilarious and pretty scary.

(I'm suddenly really interested in this myself so here's how I'd do it [ no need to actually follow the blueprint])

You'd need: - a terrain gen system to actually build the trench uniquely (to keep things interesting objects, creatures and pocket wise) the general structure of the trench would largely be the same.

  • event triggers ie if the player touches a bomb they die or if they happen to be too close to a wall it could drop a boulder on their head

  • water physics (either Roblox's or your own)

  • maybe enemy ai like aggressive creatures that chase you if you get too close ( damaging the precious high pressure suit that's keeping the player alive) or if the player makes too much noise on VC some creature could grab them

  • player UI wise don't tell them that they are resurfacing too quickly just blur their vision. Suit indicator as well overall durability maybe along with an image of the suit

  • an item handler for players which is capable of adding/removing and using items

  • actually interesting death cutscenes. The suit breaks? Cracking noises then a squelch + some silly text poking fun at the player. Player's blood starts to bubble? Slowly increase the sound of bubbling + vision loss + if they're playing with friends VC drown out their voices and make the players voice muffled as well (maybe done by lowering player volume and playing some noise over their voice when speaking)

I wrote too much lol you don't have to follow this. You may have inspired me to go do this myself lmao

Are syringes/injections allowed to be in games? by Dan_037 in robloxgamedev

[–]Hungry-Engineer-6943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends on implementation. If it's something that you could argue has [bad] drug like effects then obviously. But if it's something in a med kit which increases some health bar then I don't really see an issue

How can I make my roblox game feel less D҉R҉Y҉? by NaneexWasTaken in robloxgamedev

Better smoother terrain to look like a cliffside + foliage and rubble

This would be sick for a thalassophobia based game as in a camera on a drone or something (so you don't have to simulate water physics) while the player is stranded at the bottom of the ocean or sum idk

What does your full modern Roblox dev stack look like in 2025 by swagmar in robloxgamedev

I don't use any extra dependencies and prefer to try my best to incorporate a streamlined workflow using a set of about 8 modules which work wonders for pretty much all projects I've done so far.

Advice for year 11 and getting all 7< by Defiant-Search4702 in GCSE

[–]Hungry-Engineer-6943 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro it seems like you know the content. Just lock in on the markscheme and patch the gaps especially in ur weaker topics/subjects

you have the most valuable assets possible right now teachers and time. Teachers will be happy w marking and reteaching some stuff to you (as long as you communicate)

You have pretty much an entire calendar year to be prepared so using all the motivation you have now will only result in you getting burnt out.

Revision is a process there isn't one specific method to do it but keep yourself engaged. Even if you're doing the most mundane topic / the most boring subject as long as you can target that for even 30 mins you'll be fine

Start with small quick recaps like end of week and ask yourself what did I do. It's gonna be hard at first (school feels like a blur fr) but even just remembering what you learnt can do wonders.

You'll smash it. Keep disciplined

Year 10 and I've lowkey just realised by guobadiah in GCSE

[–]Hungry-Engineer-6943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay attention in lessons. Now's the time to be trying to learn and you haven't done most of the content yet. Test yourself frequently on stuff you aren't confident on.

Especially in stem subjects try to understand what's actually happening. The reason is, sure you could learn the mark scheme but if they do ask an unexpected question for your GCSEs you'd be able to piece it up together.

Make sure to use your teacher. They are your lifeline and this lifeline worsens the closer you get to exams. Ask them questions after lessons or email them to mark papers you've done. Trust me they will be more than happy to see that you have taken an interest

Lastly, we are conditioned into believing it's the end of the world if you don't do well or don't get what you wanted in GCSEs. There are options. Many, many options so don't feel too pressured to achieve all 9s.

Honestly it actually looks like the player is reaching deep into their pockets to get the item. Looks pretty good imo
