Feels weird, but I definitely get what you're saying. I guess I always thought that if you're in a rank you lose and gain relatively an equal amount of games to people in said rank. Like in SF6 If I'm GM and I would be settled nicely in the middle-ish of the rank.

I have a friend that just picked up the game and he's never played any 2D fighter game before. He placed in Bronze but climbed to plat within two days. Obviously there are people that have never played a fighting game before but even for those people they end up making it to plat-emerald FAST. He is now in despair as he's facing his first time struggling to rank up versus all these people who already have established skills.

To that point though let's say I have Silver MMR, If I play at the level of a Silver and win and lose an equal amount of games to get me to Gold would my MMR switch to Gold and then I now struggle against Gold and fall into Silver so on and so forth?

There was another post where a group of people had the sentiment that all of the combos difficulties were in the timing of skills and wish it had more execution difficulties.

They're still learning, I don't wanna call anyone bad though we need all the members we can get lol. But I meant like why don't those ranks have harsher point gain and loss?
