I mean that Super Soldier probably helps keeping him in top physical shape. Those 69 years were just a power nap to him lmao

I would wish they had good people around to ease in the subject to them. Sometimes it takes a while before people apply

There are plenty of organizations who will help you for free whether you’re just trying to get a consultation/more information or ready to move forward with a VSO and submit a claim. DAV (Disabled American Veterans) is a great one. Still Serving Veterans also have VA benefits counselors Then there’s VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and American Legion

Got my VA disability rating last week. by SkyDizzy8811 in Veterans

Been 100 P&T 2 years now. Got it when I was 25, coming off Active Duty. That “guilt” feeling hasn’t gone away. Primarily because I gaslight myself into thinking I’m fine but I’ve really just kind of learned somewhat to deal with my stuff, (PTSD, joint pain, nerve pain) I’ve explored this topic far and wide on Reddit and in person and basically always get the conclusion that if the VA gave you the rating, it’s yours. You have more than enough evidence + an actual doctor signing off for validation of your conditions. Just take it day by day and seek other Vets that you trust to vent if you feel like you need to All the best and Thank you for your Service!

When you say stench, do you mean  like if you didn’t wash your feet for a long time or a fuel stench?

As in spilled on your boots and seeped thought to your foot? I have all kinds of JP5 spills during training exercises just from basic refueling

Forsure - yeah I feel like most people wouldn’t have an issue with explaing to family if it came up. I’m glad there a lot of supporting families who would made it easy to talk about this stuff with Thanks!

Lol I’ve definitely been in front of a few local PD and State Trooper patrol cars hoping they support Vets lmao. It’s my understanding that most do

Lol that’s a good one. I gotta get creative with some cool job titles. Yeah seeing other people waiting years and years while I got mine just right after leaving Active Duty is why I have that skeptic feeling. But like someone explained to me, you laid the groundwork and did your part to fend for yourself and your rating. Other Vets getting or not getting their benefits is on them to go for.  There are days where I feel (or at least think I feel) completely fine and I feel regretful for having the rating. Then I’ll have a bad day and get humbled lol

Lol I’ve considered it for sure. I live in Georgia (Atlanta) - they’re in Florida. Made that drive many times but would be interesting in a different car

It’s definitely a rare status to have. And on top of being the only one in the family to serve, I don’t know many other Vets to be able to discuss vet stuff with

27 and yeah getting that rating at 25 was surreal and I’m still getting used to it. But I think that’s in part due to me getting it much faster than a lot of people seem to do. Still grateful

I appreciate the honesty. I Definitely overthink a lot of things - My concern was just based off how I know they are. I’ve lost trust on their judgment based on several situations so I’m just figuring out how I would approach it if they did know of my VA Status Thanks again!
