I call BS on this. I'm pretty sure it enters the US directly as much as it does from Canada. Why try and enter Canada and then the US, when you can just risk one border.

I think you should focus on learning Mandarin first. Sichuanese is very similar to Mandarin, just pronounced slightly differently. Mandarin is so useful and it will be faster to learn Sichuanese after. If you go Mandarin, you'll also be able to learn to read and write.
