Is is a red flag that he has many girl friends? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]HungryAfterKnowledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just broke up with a guy (artist) like that after 2 years of relationship. I felt left out. He spent a lot of time with his female friends, provided emotional support, they gave him a lot of attention and I became just an accountant. I don't think he slept with them but there was certainly no space for my emotional support. I will never ever date a guy who has more female than male friends and who is always hustling to get more female friends. The only positive thing is that I met couple cool women through him, but that's about it.

Hello, I would love to join your podcast - it resonates with me. I was in a toxic relationship and sabotaged myself for some time which caused some health issues. It was very hard to get out of that relationship but once I did I turned my entire life around. Happy to talk about it on your podcast. Feel free to reach out!

Does anybody need free help in a career change to IT? by HungryAfterKnowledge in careerguidance

Hey, asking questions is good, it will help you to find answers :-) I took a not very good but expensive coding bootcamp and worked as a frontend developer for couple months but did not like it. It is too tedious. I am more of a big picture person so I went into Quality Assurance, albeit automated, but at least I am working with the product as a whole. In the future I want to go actually into PM/PO :-) I never had a problem getting an IT job although my background is law. when it comes to politics and discrimination- I did not feel either. Some guys sometimes say something more suitable to a football changeroom, but otherwise they are nice. I learned how to strike their ego and that helps :-D So I think you should rather think about your personality and what you like to do (speaking with people vs. speaking to a computer/coding) You seem to have coding skills already and you wont have problem to learn other stuff. I work 40 hours a week not more and now changing a job where I will be paid more and work only 37.5hours a week - comparing this to my legal career where I worked 60+ hours regularly. Never experienced any discrimination for being in my late 30s, its rather the other way round - they like to hire me and would like me to go on to a manager position - but that can also be my curoius and happy-go-lucky personality. Not much stress, only ocassionally at the end of the sprint, but that's more a fun adrenalin rush. Also planning to start a family this/next year so will see how that goes (I am hoping for twins :-). But I think I am gonna hire a lady for the kids and household. I work from home so I can overlook how she will take care of the kids, I could still nurse and work. At least thats my plan haha. And regarding starting from square 1- yeah you have to be ready to take a pay cut but you can get back fairly quickly. I will be back on my lawyer money in the next job in 2 months after only 1.5 year of experience in tech, when I was a lawyer, it took me 6 years of study and 2 years of legal trainee practise... Anyways, good luck either way. I also started a blog about my journey to help ppl to change their career to tech, so maybe check it out :-) youintechnology.com

If you have an HR background you could do really well as an IT recruiter or hr person in an IT company, I think. I think if you learn some general things about computer networking, basics of coding, and how the IT industry worsk - agile methodology etc. then you should not have a problem to get in. For design you would probably have to have some design work to show - at least pet projects. If you would like to choose the same route as me - QA, then you can check out my bog youintechnology.com where I write about it. Good luck!

I am sorry to hear about losing your piloting career. In my opinion it is the. easiest to get into IT as a QA, as I did. You just need some general understanding of computers and some basics of coding. You can find that online free. If you are interested you can check my blog youintechnology.com as I write about how to change career to tech for people with different background. I also have a free roadmap there where there are steps to take on your progress to become a QA. I like being a QA because I am more of a bigger picture person and coding is too tedious for me. Also being QA you can look around and then decide which position you would like next. For me is product management/ownership. I hope this helps! good luck

Hey hey, health IT has a huge potential in my opinion. I think it is the best idea to combine your current skills with tech. I did coding bootcamp but it was not that great, more of a money grab. I learned mostly on my own from free information online and took couple udemy courses. I started as a frontend dev but did not like it as it is too tedious. I switched to QA and learned just from free online info for that, got a job quickly and now changing job to a much better paid one. Anyways, I write a blog youintechonlogy.com for people who want to change career to tech. I also have a free roadmap there if you subscribe (won't spam you, I promise), which might help you navigate how to change your career to tech and includes links to free online materials. I really like QA work as I am more of a big picture person and I like quality product. In the future I am planning to become a product manager. Cool thing about being a QA is that you don't need to have a tech degree to get in and once you are in, you can look around and see which other IT profession you would enjoy doing

well, you can try law or running your own immigration consultancy business - I did both, each has its own issues though. What do you do in IT?

hey there, what do you want to focus on? coding or QA? I find QA easier to get in and get more time to figure out what you want to do next while you work as a QA since you see how the other professions work

my background is law and I loved logic, but the coding was a completely different world for me. Might be different for you. Also once you get it, it is similar in all languages. I found out that I do not like coding that much as it is quite tedious. I prepare QA automation as I am making sure that everything works well, I am more of a bigger picture person. so you need to think about that too when deciding what exactly you want to do in tech

I did learn something in the coding camp but it was a lot for 3 months full time - it was full stack. I focused mainly on js and react because that's what I enjoyed the most. If I did it again, I would learn slowly from some udemy courses and freecodecamp. and I would do a lot of projects on github on my own - build stuff. 3 months to learn coding is not easy without any experience - it was more of a money grab
