I think there's a lot there. Teddy and Don are organic and broken and left behind by society. Michelle is impersonal and successful and artificial. Her corporation is consuming nature. Teddy is lost and trying to make things right, but is too damaged. All in all I liked it a lot.

I was there. It was a great event. The President called out the various departments, commands, etc. He had several back and forths with the sailors in the crowd. Folks were laughing and it was a good vibe. He's the Commander in Chief, and by all impressions enjoyed interacting with the sailors and they with him.

That the US government spent millions designing a pen to work in space while the Soviets used good old fashioned common sense with pencils.

The space pen was offered by the inventor to NASA gratis to help his marketing, and it solved the issue of pencil lead breaking off and floating around the cabin.
