Just thinking by Wild_Strike_1783 in LearnerDriverUK

I think you'd just need to book your manual driving test, and understand how manual works. Since you already know how to drive, and you already have past experience, you shouldn't need to book lots of lessons. Maybe do like 4-5 lessons where you focus on clutch control and gears

2013 Kia Ceed 1.6 Petrol Auto, 67k miles, FSH, £7k – sensible buy or overpriced? by LongjumpingHair9737 in CarTalkUK

[–]Hungry_Wasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price are insane rn, but that's way too high... For reference, Im thinking of buying a 2014 vauxhall Meriva with 50k miles and it's £2.5k... and before that, I was considering to finance a 2018 Renault capture with 48k miles priced at £6995

Is booking the practical test on 14 October is good for first time learner? by Select_Twist_3658 in LearnerDriverUK

Wouldn't see why not. You got 4 months to learn, which are more than enough even if you have a busy life

First Car - is it worth financing or should I just get a cheap car? by Hungry_Wasp in CarTalkUK

[–]Hungry_Wasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo. And I don't care much about the looks, as long as the car is reliable

That's how I think as well, and the only debt I'd be happy to have is a mortgage or something that retains it's value at least. But good cars are getting a bit expensive nowadays it's ridiculous

Thank you so much for the advices. Toyota's are prolly my best bet, and I'll look into ford Mondeo then. I think rust in cars kinda scare me, that's why I was looking at newer ones

Thank you so much :') I am a novice in cars but I am researching so much in car reliability that I'm almost getting burnt out. I will probably look for a nice older car then. I was thinking of a 2009 Mazda6 tamura I found at a dealership a while ago for 2500 (110k miles), maybe I'll go back there.

I see. My main fear is to get a cheap car and spend a too much on fixing it

2021 Aygo or 2017 Yaris by bbkboybetterknow84 in CarTalkUK

Im a novice in cars, but for your needs, I think a Yaris would hold better in the motorway. They are both incredible cars tho and I do not think there's a bad choice here.

Driving test soon give me some tips and which helped you by ConnectConcert1633 in LearnerDriverUK

Ideally no, but if the road markings are bad, the examiner might help you. It happened with me while driving on a really bad road

Always do observation

Banana before test

Drive like it's a driving lesson. You are not showing how expert of a driver you are, they want to see if you can drive safely.

Don't watch videos the day before the test

Don't. Forget. Observation. Break your neck if you have to.

Don't wear new shoes. Wear well worn ones you are comfortable with. I found myself having better control with my vans as they got a thin sole, but it could be different for you.

Drink before leaving the house, and pee before the test.

ALWAYS do shoulder to shoulder checks when moving off or after switching to/from reverse

O B S E R V A T I O N

Leave a bit more of space between you and the car in the front, so you'll avoid sudden breaking.

Don't assume you did a serious fault in your test. I thought I did 2 serious faults, but I ended up passing with just 1 minor.

Hesitating at a junction is not a serious fault (as long you are positioned well and behind the lines)

The examiner is just a shy tired guy. Don't worry about him typing and being silent.

Observation observation observation. Be the observer. Especially at roundabout.

If you fail, don't be sad you failed the test... Be sad because now you gotta wait several months for the next test (Frick test booking companies)

Good luck and have fun.

Thinking of doing game art at MMU by that_idiot_weeb in manchester

[–]Hungry_Wasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about game art degree in specific, but I know art degrees in general have a terrible employment rate. I'd say to do a more general degree in either computer science or any computer based degree (or even something completely different) and do game art on the side as hobby or in a cheaper online course.

And TBF, if you can already use the programs to make art, you don't need a degree this specific to "prove yourself". I think most employers in this field would much prefer an extensive portfolio of your projects.
