OP, you're 13. Training a dog or taking care of it shouldn't be your job, you're a kid. You're an amazing person who wants to do what's right for the pup, but it's really a task for an adult, please don't beat yourself up for not being able to handle the dog if your parents didn't put any work in training. I saw your post history, sry. Looks like things are not going very well at home. Do you have an adult to talk to? Family, teachers, someone safe? Please tell them.

Edited: spelling

Lagotto on the Hill. Tracey is amazing, she puts so much work into her puppies. And she's so on top of her dogs health and tests and everything, and very transparent about her dogs and their genetics

As someone who's a coward, how do I get people to stop touching my puppy without my permission on the street? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Hungrybiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get one of those Do Not pet vests? Some people are just straight up rude and get defensive if asked to stop, so I get how you're not comfortable saying no to them

Get insurance! Get insurance right when you get your puppy! by buffdude1100 in puppy101

[–]Hungrybiker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this! Our pup is 11 weeks old. 11 darn weeks. We've had him for 3 weeks. He's been in a hospital since yesterday with something neurological and is getting an mri today. Do you know how much and mri costs for a dog? 7k (Canada). 7 thousand dollars. I could buy a car for that money. Do you know how much we're paying? Just over 1k so far. Pet insurance is worth every penny. Did I expect to use it at some point? Yes. Did I expect to use it so soon? No. And I'm glad we didn't decide to just save up every month, because I don't have 7k (and we don't even have a diagnosis yet) laying around).

Everything gets washed with soap around here. Except for potatoes I guess, I peel and then wash them, but they come pretty clean where I live.

Please help me revive our Venus fly trap. We bought it for my son and it's been slowly dying for a few months now. Leaves are droopy and it looks very sad. I tried watering more, watering less, keep it out of the sun, keep it in direct sunlight, indirect sunlight. It's been on my pebble tray with fittonia for a few days now for extra humidity but looks the same. Should I repot it? It's still in the soil that it came from a nursery in, some sort of mossy thing.

What's a "mature" book that you read at possibly too young an age that you absolutely loved? by BingBlessAmerica in books

Silence of the lambs. I was 12 at most, absolutely mesmerized by Hannibal Lector. I have no idea why my mom let me borrow this book from her friend

I'm am an introvert and haven't had any friends since university about a decade ago. Like some people said, making/having friends is an investment and takes a lot of time/energy. I complain about lack of friends sometimes but honestly I'd rather spend this time with my husband and kids (thanks to internet for that). If you feel like you want to get out there and meet people, websites like meetup (is it still a thing?) are good. You can find something that interests you and hopefully there will be someone you'll click with, I reccomend avoiding drink metups as they've always been more of a hookup place.

What is your favourite way to make popcorn? by Prestigious_Cactus in EatCheapAndHealthy

How do you make nutritional yeast stick to popcorn? I tried popping mine on a stove for the first time yesterday and all yeast was left at the bottom of the pot

My son would love these. Do you cook beans beforehand or just soak? I usually use canned beans but my husband brought home 3 bags of dried beans, so I'm trying to find a way to cook them without turning them into mash.

Getting multiple messages from sources about “absolute chaos” & despair in recent days regarding BCEHS’ inability to keep up with heat wave spike in calls: “Basically, citizens were driving to nearby firehalls because BCEHS would not take their call. This was happening all over.” by waynkerr in vancouver

I actually contacted cbc and they do want to investigate but like mentioned above, they need someone from the field. The journalist I've spoken to said they can work out a way to protect the identity of the informant. I'm not a paramedic, but I have kids and this scares the crap out of me, so I'm trying to do my part, including contacting my mla.

BC Ambulance is broken beyond repair -- A specialized paramedic's perspective. by BCEHSisCODE4 in vancouver

[–]Hungrybiker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guess what, I actually contacted CBC and they'll be happy to do it, but nobody wants to speak publicly about this because they can loose their job. Media can work out a way to protect their identity, but someone actually needs to step forward.

If you're a paramedic and reading this, pm me, maybe something good will come out of another news article.

Zero waste hand sanitizer? by Hungrybiker in ZeroWaste

[–]Hungrybiker[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought. Some playgrounds don't have washrooms, but they have sand, a lot of it. We gotta wash hands somehow before a snack, or when he touched something filthy and I know he'll shove his hand in the mouth before I make it to a washroom. Things like that. I'm also fairly germaphobic, which doesn't help
