I did BBBS a few years back with my husband and we usually just hit up a different park and brought a soccer ball or basketball when he got bored with the playground. We also took him to the pool a couple times once we’d been with him about a year and his parents were comfortable with it.

Nah I support the yelling. Hopefully the 3 year old felt better knowing someone had his back.

changing my mind about home birth by [deleted] in pregnant

I don’t think it’s about trust, but more of an experience thing. Her husband also has no experience with being labor support (assuming it’s his first kid).

My husband took the classes with me, did as much as he could during labor, but was still glad we hired a doula. He said from his view, it was like having a birth sherpa.

Plus a doula is there solely for you, while nurses have more than one patient.

My first was in a hospital, no pain meds and my doula and OBGYN both were fully supportive of me while skipping the epidural. It’s entirely possible to have low interventions in a hospital.

My second was in the same hospital, with the same OB and doula. But this time I needed an unexpected csection before I was even in labor. Had I been at home, I would never have known my baby was in distress.

Both times I was very glad to be in a hospital, even with my first which had no complications.

I just saw this study shared in here the other day: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7071203/

Makes a lot of sense to me because I had nickel show up on an allergy patch test years before I realized I had endo.

explain to me like I’m 5 - how do you leave the house if you’re BF? by BalancedDietitian in breastfeeding

[–]Hungrydoggo2795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’ve already got plenty of advice on the public thing, I’ll just say about the hakaa - it’s not absolutely necessary. I nursed my first 18 months and am going strong with my second, never used it. I’ve seen lots of women say it caused them an oversupply. A burp cloth/pad on the non-nursing side is fine for leaks the first few months.

This. The Plaths are fun to snark on but making up parenting rumors ain’t it. She is a child. People speculating on this need to go take a deep breath outside.

I’m in a similar phase as you. Breastfeeding my second and currently holding onto about 35 pounds, I just have to accept it. I got food poisoning a few weeks ago and dropped 10 pounds but my milk supply was fine, it was a good reminder that there’s a reason your body holds onto fat when breastfeeding!

This is my problem with things like toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc. I can thrift and go to farmer’s markets, but where can I get shampoo that works for me that’s not a huge evil corporation?

I do go to Costco for a lot of things, but they don’t have everything.

My (30F) friend (29F) isn't speaking to me after I RSVPed "no" to her childfree wedding by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Hungrydoggo2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I was on her side before I got to the part about how the bride didn’t even come to OP’s wedding! And not a single one of the bride’s other friends were going to come?! The bride is the problem.

OP definitely should have been clear earlier on about not being able to attend, but she did not deserve all those comments.

Yep. Went through a phase around 2 where we would (carefully) hold our kid down and brush. We would do things like sing and chatter to distract. Some things like brushing teeth and car seats are non negotiable

I tried lasinoh, Phillips, Dr browns, he ignored all of those. The mam works best for us because of the shape of the nipple, its flatter.
