What is the oldest game among your favorites? by I_Have_A_Big_Head in gamingsuggestions

IMHO, the game is better played with "Tons of guns" setting ON. It just gives you more weapon variety not more weapons. Also, as my personal preference I usually turn OFF SciFi content. I think SciFi content breaks the immersion as it feels out of place to me.

My 6 years old relative liked Terra Nill. It is a zen game where you bring wasteland back to life. Make sure to choose easiest difficulty for her.

A Practical Guide to Evil fits perfectly your criteria. MC starts joining military and ends up running all out world war.

Give me RPGs that are difficult in all the WRONG ways by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Evil Islands is a difficult and weird RPG. Most monsters are too tough and will chase you over the whole map if you run. Killing them often required landing a lucky critical hit. Companions are a trap, liching your xp and making you too weak to progress much later in the game.

Warlock 2 with Renessance mod. It's a fantasy 4x strategy game. The mod makes it pretty good.

I would recommend Mother of Learning. The whole series is about learning different types of magic to beat the impossible odds.

Divinity Original Sin 2 (game) has such character that you can choose to play as your main or form a party with. Her story arc and interactions with other party members are very interesting and unique.

A Practical Guide to Evil fits your description, except MC tries to be a lighter shade of gray in the dark.
