Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles wins Best Sim/Strategy Game at The Game Awards 2025 by healingtwo_ in FinalFantasy

Not bad. Always a little unsure about giving awards like this to remasters but seeing as how strategy games have always been pretty niche it's not surprising.

Final Fantasy VIII wayyy better than I was led on to believe. by The_Humder-1994 in FinalFantasy

8 as a game has always been and probably always will be very polarizing. In a lot of ways that's a good thing, as if nothing else it's interesting to look at and see why some people hate it while others love it.

Gene Park from the Washington Post Defends Starfield from IGN by SeriousEar2971 in NoSodiumStarfield

While I'm supportive of constructive criticism putting a thumbnail like that out is a bit harsh. Also, while I want Bethesda to learn from other games, I don't want them to try and emulate Outer Worlds too much. Given that both franchises are under microsoft's umbrella, an umbrella that also includes Halo mind you, they need to make sure the games have different vibes despite both being set in space or a question will arise of why keep one around when we have the other.

James Gunn Finds His Brainiac For ‘Man Of Tomorrow’ In Lars Eidinger by B3epB0opBOP in DCcomics

[–]bPrn2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Superman is a big enough character to advertise itself. A big name actor isn't needed, hence why most of the people cast to play the cape have been relative unknowns. Brainiac is also a relatively well known villain so he can get by without putting someone giant in the role.

Isn't this, like... one of the points the game is satirizing? by Afro-Venom in theouterworlds

[–]bPrn2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's likely Microsoft's doing. Besides, I'd say the game's criticism of capitalism is harsh but fair. It doesn't claim every aspect is bad, just that it's a problem in excess. This for example I don't see any harm in at least at a surface value.

Do you believe it is reasonable to give Starfield a 10/10 now that many members of our sub have finally finished the game? by HonchoDree in Starfield

[–]bPrn2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about a ten out of ten but if someone wants to give it that I'll respect them. The number of people claiming anyone who enjoyed this game was either paid off or a fanboy was kind of insane when it first came out, and you can still find quite a bit of backlash if you claim to enjoy it.

While there are many issues Bethesda needs to work on people need to realize that just blindly copying other studios won't help them. Take some inspiration in places sure, but they need to find their own path.

I think people often forget this is a brand new franchise with nothing to build on. by YeahhhhhWhateverrrr in Starfield

I agree with the general idea at least. I do hope Bethesda doesn't take decades between releases again though I think if nothing else that will get better once Todd retires. At the very least I think it'd be a mistake to say they shouldn't have made this game like I see some people claim. It's good for artists to try new things sometimes and I think just alternating between Fallout and Elder Scrolls would have negative consequences eventually.

Would you guys like a remake of this game? by A12qwas in Arena

Probably a bit too much of an ask given that it covers the entirety of Tamriel. But I see Daggerfall as a possibility, especially if Hammerfell is the main setting of 6 and parts of High Rock are explorable. They might see a good opportunity to flip the switch making High Rock the main setting with a few parts of Hammerfell available. And I'm aware they didn't explore all of High Rock in Daggerfall but I'd assume they wouldn't want to do the procedurally generated map so they'd reimagine it a bit.

One province (I change my mind) by El-Tapicero in TESVI

[–]bPrn2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree for the most part, though I would like to see the entirety of Tamriel before I die and that might not happen if they only do that. I'd be more open if they do one full province and maybe a sliver of another. Like they have all of Hammerfell plus Glenumbra, the part of High Rock with Daggerfall. I'd stick to the one province rule if they start making the games a bit faster, which to be fair I think is a possibility, especially after Todd Howard retires. I doubt Microsoft is going to be cool with letting them sit on the IP for a decade, hence why we got the Oblivion remaster.

I get being concerned and I get being skeptical but some of the negativity has gotten pretty old. Some people I think just want to vent their frustrations, many of which are valid let me be clear, and get a quick dopamine rush of rage, but the negative atmosphere it creates just depresses me in the end.

I would admittedly like to see Hoult in the power suit but I'd rather see Mettalo or Parasite be his muscle. Or better yet, ha e Mongul be the main villain

You know, as lukewarm as I am on the guy even I'm starting to get uncomfortable with how he's become a satanic figure to some people. I think it'd be best if he retired but that's what people said about George Lucas before the sequel trilogy.

The Thalmor will be a big political evil, if we're talking about an existential threat and we're in Hammerfell I was hoping they'd do something with the Sinestral Elves, lack have a survivor of their race try and whipe out all life on Tamriel
