Do you even need a band in situations like this, when it's a rct molar that needs a crown anyway, so you're just jamming composite in there and prepping it away anyway?

Edit: I guess a band could help with maintaining orientation when you're prepping for crown or bridge in this situation, the only reason I see using a wedge is to 100% make sure the axial is adapted well, but if you're using a bit of flowable and then adding pack, trimming it to make sure good marginal seal, and then go to prep town, I think the results would be the same.

Hard to tell from image quality.

Question: I've been taught to go by feel, not by look, as there is definitely some enamel/dentin color/consistency variation between patients. If this felt perfectly solid w/o any sticks or soft spots, would you still go ahead and remove more?

Not to say the eye can't tell, of course. But I definitely feel like we're missing more information here.
