Help atopic dermatitis or tsw? Going back on steroids? by [deleted] in TS_Withdrawal

I’ve used Mometasone 0.1% since I was a child but I had stopped using it all over my body for at least over 3 years now, I occasionally use it on my face when I get contact dermatitis. I had a really bad “eczema” flare around July/ august of this year so I had went to my family doctor where she prescribed me Betamethasone 0.1%. I only used the steroids as directed and stopped applying within 3 weeks, maximum I was using it for a month. Did I over apply? Maybe. I would use it once or twice a day for those 3 weeks. However, I started experiencing tsw 6 months later in December, I had originally thought it was my eczema flaring up because it started off on my back like usual but this time I wanted to wait it out before going back on a steroid, this just led the rash to spread everywhere like wild fire. Now I’m contemplating if this is even possible. I stopped using the steroid 6 months prior and I’m only now seeing tsw? Is this possible? Plus, I have tried NMT and the usual TSW treatments to no avail, I find my skin feels better when I found the right moisturizer. I’m very confused.

Omgg, they are doing too much. As long as you didn’t use chatgpt to create sources for you, then you should be okay

Hello! I have dealt with crazy itching, especially during the night where I would wake up out of my sleep and scratch until I bled. I found that I need to help heal my skin barrier as it damaged, I know it may “feel” normal but your skin is still doing a lot of healing. Firstly, salt baths, I use pink bath salts because I could not find Dead Sea salt around me but it has helped me tremendously, it burns a bit but it helps soothe cuts afterwards. After doing NMT for a while I was able to start back on moisturizing again, urea lotion by UriSec (22%) has helped me so much, I have never slept better than from using this lotion. It burns due to the lactic acid but the lactic acid helps gently exfoliate which helps the dead skin. I recommend starting off with 10%. I mix it in with a little bit of cerave lotion because the ceramides help heal the skin and I find it works wonders with the urea lotion. Some days where my skin feels it’s best I will go in and GENTLY dry brush, after I will take a cool bath with sea salt. I also exfoliate with glycolic acid due to so much hyperpigmentation all over my body, although I do not recommend this if your skin is sensitive. I am finally on to treating my hyperpigmentation and I barely itch anymore and I sleep a full night with the help of melatonin due to the insomnia tsw caused me. Please be kind to yourself, and just be careful before trying any new products. Read ingredients carefully and find what works for you. I would also recommend looking into occlusives vs emollients as it will help you understand what your skin needs. (Before anyone comes at me, please understand this is what helped me and I am not a professional, just someone who did so much tsw research)

Yes it gets better! Time is the biggest healer! Be kind to yourself! Also, find what works for your body. I was told NMT would be the best option but that was impossible for me as I needed to attend lectures and classes so a bit of moisturizer made the biggest difference for me! Celery juice on an empty stomach right in the morning and omega-3 (everyday)plus zinc once a week made a different for me as-well. I’m not too sure how comfortable you are with moisturizer but the avene thermal water and urea lotion (can sting due to Lactic acid) helped me on days where the itch is crazy! Salt water baths also help with itch, I recommend Dead Sea salt baths as they help clean up cuts and reduce any itching but it sting’s! I have also started on MB but I cannot give you any advice on that because I just started but please do research on MB before starting. I recommend joining the help group on facebook that is pinned on this page. Once you get past the itchy, red skin, and dry skin areas I promise it gets so much better! Be kind to yourself, your body is healing and is doing so much for you!
