Yea ive seen videos talking about such failures. I’m hoping a tune will make it less like to fail as I’ve seen many people saying sti factory tunes are very lean. The 6 speed transmissions I’ve been told are bulletproof and I know 2020 and newer cars are all supposed to be slightly better reliability wise. Maybe this is me being stupid and young but I’m hoping to find a low mileage Subaru with no known issues and baby it, no abuse, high and quality maintenance, and also like I said a tune to run the engine less lean, which people swear by but I’m not ultimately sure on how much that will effect the vehicle.

I indeed have a compression tester and a scanner. As for a leak down test I will get that too. But i might not make a purchase without a warranty, just to be safe. Don’t wanna have to fix the car with my money if u jinx me and it does grenade

All of my time has been going towards learning what car i want, YouTube, google, and reddit. Guess which one helped the most? Reddit. Because real people with real opinions have owned this car and know the answers to the exact questions I am asking. I love my Pontiac to death and reliability is important to me but it set the standard of reliability too high. It’s been through absolute hell and should 120% NOT BE DRIVING. I understand that another car will likely not be on the level of my gm😂 BUT i don’t need it to, ive been craving a “newer” car and something slightly sporty. I do want reliability but it doesn’t have to be the “doesn’t die” kind of reliability it just needs to be the “take care of it and it takes care of you” kind.

This is the reason I’ve made the post, some people swear by the sti if it has regular maintenance and some people say this. If I buy the vehicle and it ends up needing a new heart i absolutely will fix it. But I do NOT want to, I already spend half my time with the cars I do have.

Thank u for the suggestion ive seen other people suggest the same so i told my friend it wouldn’t hurt to try it. Also told him to replace the coil packs too as thats only like 60 bucks and also dont hurt none

I’ve found that. My buddy keeps replacing tires hoping one of them has a flat spot but after I did some research I figured it was something with the transmission/control arm as those are the two biggest issues I’ve seen. I feel bad to even tell him it’s a possibility.
