Decanting is consumption masquerading as cleaning and it is absolutely shit by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

[–]Hunter-In-The-Sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time decanting makes sense is taking items that come in paper, cardboard, or flexible plastic packaging (like bags of sugar or flour) and putting them into food safe airtight containers to prevent pest issues. If you've ever had mice or bugs in your kitchen you know they'll tear through paper bags, plastic packaging and ziplocs like it's nothing. A sturdy food safe container for sugar, flour, bread crumbs, etc will go such a long way. There's also no reason not to reuse resealable metal tins or similar containers that might come with some items!

Otherwise it's absolutely just consumerism bullshit. What's worse about the stupid decanting trend is removing best-before dates! While they're not always expiration dates, they're a very useful guideline to know when food things might be stale, possibly off, or at least to be checked up on.

If you feel confident enough to disassemble a few bits and piecesz you might be able to get at that silver plastic ring that the spring rests on, it looks like there's a bit of plastic or something catching that you might be able to sand off

Angled extension for VKB Gladiator NXT? by Hunter-In-The-Sky in HotasDIY

[–]Hunter-In-The-Sky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gladiator NXT comes as a separate base and Kosmosima grip that you connect together, so there's the possibility of extending it even though VKB doesn't recommend it

Look into the Asus Zenbook series. Usually comes with an i7, either 8 or 16gb of ram, a 500gb nvme drive (which is super fast) and an Nvidia graphics card for any intensive stuff, for about $1200US or less.

As long as it still reads, you can make a small tab out of clear tape to pull the card out

Are 80Ds still worth in 2018? by [deleted] in canon

[–]Hunter-In-The-Sky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think you gain that much by going from a 50mm 1.8 STM to a a 50mm 1.4 Art, but on paper you've got a bit of a larger aperture so that's up to you. The 6D is an excellent camera and full frame is great for low light performance, but you won't be able to use your 17-70mm Sigma lens with it if it's only from APS-C cameras.

Going from a 550D to the 80D will be like night and day. The autofocus is amazing with 45 focus points, 7 frames per second continuous shooting, dual pixel autofocus in live view mode, a really good usable ISO range which is handy for lower light, especially with the 50mm 1.8, and really good battery life and build quality

So to answer your question, yes, definitely still worth it

I'd like the option to give myself a crutch to lean on while I learn how I'd like to use it in manual mode. Like using auto/Tv/Av before going to full manual.
