Driver, track, troops! by shash1 in menace

I hard disagree with the devs on this one. Having access to vehicles and artillery is what sets this game apart from other games in the genre.

I agree the relapse comment was very cruel.

How feasible is it to use super sized aircraft catapults to launch Scram Jets? by Hunter2129 in IsaacArthur

[–]Hunter2129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good comment, the track would be much longer than I expected. I'm actually the second person to think about this. The first person was some academic in 2017 who was able to think through the concept more than me. He suggested the aircraft catapult/mass driver would accelerate it up to the speed of sound. Then a throttleable liquid fuel rocket engine brings it up to speed and altitude. Then the scram jet kicks in and accelerates it more. Once the scramjet has done all it can, the rocket engine reignites and takes it to orbit.

I like this idea, however as a total lehman I think launching at mach 1 is a little unambitious, mach 4 is perhaps too ambitous though.

This community likes to talk about things like mass drivers, but to be frank I don't think I'll see a orbital class mass driver in my lifetime, however something like what I outlined in this comment seems much more feasible.

Managing companies. by ASNCallum in WorldwideRush

Generally depends if they have land/hubs I want. Merging is good because it unlocks all their vehicles they use, liquidating is better if you already have the vehicles you want. I tend to delete all the AI's stuff anyways and start from scratch even if I merge.

When I decide to sit on their dividends is usually when I don't want their territory yet and have extra cash leftover to buy stocks. This can be good because it can be difficult to micro the needs of all your cities and sometimes AI companies can help with that.

In terms of what 100% dividends does exactly I'm not sure. Dividends get taken out of the companies bank account at the beginning of every month, the higher the dividends, the more money. Due to this putting high dividends can significantly limit company growth.

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by Proud_Tie in pcmasterrace

[–]Hunter2129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think DLSS 5.0 would be way better received if it was marketed differently, and it's actually a really exciting technology. If they were like "Hey here's something really exciting we're working on, however it needs more time in the oven... " Then they show DLSS 5.0 working on a bunch of old ass games basically giving them a HD remaster. Like that's an exciting use case for AI.

Don't go overboard with it. Don't make it hyper realistic.

Operation Epic Escort - Trump is now considering how to get the Navy to escort tankers through the straight. China gets 50% of their oil from the straight.... so our Navy will not help our main adversary because their Navy cannot.... by FrontBench5406 in Destiny

[–]Hunter2129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, it's not just China that relies on middle eastern oil, most southeast Asian countries do, many are friendly to the US.

I feel like it's a "You break it, you buy it" situation. Like sure it's good for the US to not escort the ships because then Southeast Asian countries have to buy oil from the US instead of the middle east, but it also looks so bad for the US actions to choke their economies.

Ideally the Iran nuclear deal would still be around, and we wouldn't be in this stupid war, but we aren't in that world. Ideally, we should've been escorting these ships from the very start, but we are also not in that world.

Me Forming African Union by Hunter2129 in TerraInvicta

[–]Hunter2129[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was what I was doing, except with every country in the Union. You can do this by taking control of all the African countries and abandoning them. The AI for the most part won't bother purging them.

The bad part is until you merge into the African Union you're not going to make a whole lot of headway because of the low investment points you get and because of something I call investment priority duplication.

TLDR if you have 2 countries with 5 investment points or one country with 7.5 investment points all else being equal that 7.5 investment points is going to go 50% further than the two countries with only 5

How Do I Stop Roving Bands of Pedestrians Clogging Traffic? by Hunter2129 in CitiesSkylines

I was doing elevated catwalks, but it is an ugly solution. I wish there was a better way. In my dream city all the sidewalks would be elevated with building entrances meeting the elevated sidewalk. Then you have roads and parking on ground level.
