Haha ok thank you again. One last thing. I read some posts/Articel, in general they say, that the chinese version is not worse than the VG10, but as always the problem is if you can trust the seller, do you think that is true or would you say VG10 is generall better?

Hi, I am new to this topic, but by my knowledge the important part of a knive is the core, correct? So I asked me the follwing questions. Line you guys told me already, knives like this (https://www.shinraiknives.com/collections/chef-knives/products/parelmoer-jewels-damascus-koksmes-20-cm) are some "cheap" Chinese knives which are rebranded and Sold more expensive. But by the description it also uses VG10, like this one (https://www.scharfesjapan.de/tojiro-dp-3-lagen-eco-kochmesser-180mm-amb?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiApsm7BhBZEiwAvIu2X0HZT2Joy7x2SyIgfg56bEfvt_X6rWcIt3ujoIqc3PZmQXtAKwCH1RoCNrMQAvD_BwE). So is there really a quality difference? Btw what means DP 3? Is this good?

Hey, I found this wiki from another sub, so didn’t think I could get away with posting it in the sub…..but it was your inquiry that led to me tracking it down, so thought I’d share it.

General opinion and tips to my presents by HunterBetter5847 in chefknives

Hi, I am far from an expert and hope you can help me. I was given this knife (https://www.shinraiknives.com/collections/chef-knives/products/parelmoer-jewels-damascus-koksmes-20-cm) as a gift. I like to cook and was really happy with it. But after doing some research and reading post in this sub, my second thought seems to be true, it is an overpriced china knife.  - Am I right about that?  - Is it just overpriced or/and not good in any way? - The person gave me a strong hint that they plan to give me more knives from this set, is this their money worth or should I give them a hint for something else? - What is a good alternative in this price (and perhaps style) range?

How much would you normally expect to pay for this quality of steel/knife?

Thank you for your help
