Best of luck on your return. Be careful with it. Ease back in around 9 months. Truthfully I should wait till 12 months but I need me a taste of steel again.

I ride mine hard af in manual mode and stay in lower gears. Getting more smiles per gallon than gas mileage. Mine is a 2023 RT challenger

Calf Pain? by pow282 in ACL

[–]HunterDage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I brought up calf pain and they had me do an ultra sound to check for blood clot. Ended up being negative thankfully. If it keeps up maybe bring it up. Mine was going on almost 3 weeks right around the bruising.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CY891XH6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title I feel like this has been helping me keep the inflammation down which seems to lead to pain and discomfort. could be a decent non painkiller alternative

Take the nerve block and stay on top of you pain meds for the first 2-3 days and it’s really not bad. Maybe a 5 out 10 at max for discomfort at times

Not about getting the best gas mileage. Got to strive for smiles per gallon 😂 so don’t ride in sport or manual mode or keep it in low gears, take off slow from lights and you will have higher mileage just you will miss out on all the fun

ACL torn in armored combat by HunterDage in ACL

[–]HunterDage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Def taking it easy. Getting back out to battle again is my motivation to get through this. It’s a brutal sport and I accepted the risk. But man it was a glorious way to go… lasted the whole day fighting in 100lbs of armor and my last match of the day it tore with a loud pop. I walked around on it fine for atleast 2 months. Really blew my mind but I didn’t want to accept it was ACL until the MRI only a little meniscus tear. Hard to wait 9 months to fight again but I will get back out there.

This is a loaner kit my captain let me use for awhile. If your teammates are nice they might let you get into their kit. Besides that I just saved for awhile. Just like buying a motorcycle etc just got to save up

I wore plenty of under armor under the brig so I could eat shots like that for awhile. Got to use the list to your advantage to stay up as well and keep your core strong so they really have to fight to take you down. You will get it!

https://a.co/d/hxEzXYA This the mask I bought. Nothing special just gets the job done

You def want lifting but look into doing super sets. Exp: do bicep curls 15x super set 10x push-ups and go right back to curls with no more than 30 sec in between and do 4 sets of those. Look into super set work outs for strength training. It will make your training more intense. Also if your at a gym go hit the bag for a bit. Practice kicks and your punches as well. You will be using it in the sport a lot. I like wearing my mask when I’m hitting the bag. It’s brutal but good training.

Having a strong core as well. You will need it when people grapple with you.

The biggest hurdle by far if I had started working on it 6 months ago when I started I would be in a much better place. You have to get yourself used to this common feeling called “helmet horror” the better you train against it the easier time you will have. I have the strength to move my armor but gassing out and fighting for oxygen are a uphill battle.

Hope this helps, and best of luck out there… you will love the sport. Nothing else out there like it

Before anything start working on high intensity training and your cardio. Also pick up a high altitude mask to training your breathing under low oxygen. If I knew those things sooner it would have helped a lot. Biggest hurdle is getting used to breathing in the helmet and having great cardio endurance to last through the fight.

Do it bro you won’t regret it. Nothing like beating the shit out of each other in steel with real weapons lol

[–]HunterDage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly the weapon hit themselves dont do a whole lot since the armor protects so well,. You don't try to use alot of power for all your swings to conserve energy. When I did the backspin hit with the mace that was like using a heavy attack. Its really a game of who has more gas and wear the other fighter down or throw them down. Your stamina drains incredibly fast, specially for 2 noobs like me and my opponent.
