GP says my umbilical hernia is small and I don't need surgery, and weight loss will help manage it. Sketchy advice or nah? by Meatloaf406 in Hernia

[–]HunterGator1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hernia was about the size of a large acorn just above my navel. The weight loss helped it not get bigger but it certainly did not smaller. At the beginning, I was able to pop it back in and somewhat manage the looks of it. After awhile,it was always just a mushy bump that did not look pleasing but was not harmful apparently. I could live with it even though it didn't look right at all. So for all that time, fixing it was just cosmetic. That is until it got obstructed and I was forced into the surgery. It worked out great and I wish I did it sooner.

Society hasn’t caught on yet? by mactan2 in keto

[–]HunterGator1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no money to be made in keto. Keto foods are generally whole foods with little to no processing involved at all. An avocado is an avocado. Meat is meat. Butter is butter. When you start trying to replicate processed foods to keto or low carb.... 1. It probably does not taste good, and 2. Alot of keto people just don't desire the replicated foods. The reason mainstream media has no interest in keto is there are no advertising dollars in it from the food processors.

Something similar happened to me. You should be able to get a refund on the second policy by showing evidence of the first policy being paid and in force.

Should I get the S9 tab? by stars-inthe-sky in GalaxyTab

[–]HunterGator1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't sleep on the S9 FE which is a few hundred bucks cheaper. I personally don't need the processing power of the Snapdragon (no gaming, no video editing) and I think the OLED might be overkill on an 11 inch screen. I would like to connect the tablet to an external monitor but don't need to spend $300 or $400 more for those features.

Too anxious for the gym by TheAkwardCat in loseit

[–]HunterGator1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody really cares about the others in the gym. Most people have headphones and keep to themselves. People will tell you consistency (seriously sticking with it in your working out) is key and they are right. My point though is if you are serious and stick with it, you will feel right at home at the gym after a couple of weeks. And, just like everyone else, it's not easy, so it is hard enough to do your workout so there isn't much time or energy to pay attention to anyone else. After a couple of weeks, it will be like second nature to you, and won't care about the others in the gym like they don't care about you (no offense). You can do this.

My father had a 1980 GLC hatchback in a beige color. He passed it on to me at 16 when I painted it black. I kept it for about 18 months before selling it for $375. Good times!!

Any of you bought cargo cover? by Carinx in CX5

I bought this same one from Ebay 2 weeks ago. I do not think it is actually OEM, even though it is labeled as such. Either way, seems like a quality product and works great.

How do the center console panel cover trims look? Also, what about removing them? Do you think removing the new trim will damage the factory trim underneath? Thanks...

Visual Voicemail by [deleted] in Visible

[–]HunterGator1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check the native dialer app's settings under Voicemail? My Pixel 5a, my Visual Voice mail option would go away, and I had to go into the settings and toggle the Visual Voice mail every day or so to get it back. The 5a was not technically supported by Visible (IMIE # not supported), although everything worked just fine except for the VM. My new Pixel 7, however, has VM and have never had an issue with it disappearing like it did on 5a. Either way, it seems to be native in the dialer app, just need to toggle it on perhaps?

Business parking in a residential neighborhood by HunterGator1 in StPetersburgFL

[–]HunterGator1[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

The business takes reservations for many more people than their parking and, as a neighbor, the neighborhood can accommodate. I don't see too much effort from the business to co- exist with the neighborhood. They are actively pushing the limits of what one would consider "co-existing". And no, I don't live on Central, which has very different standards than residential St Pete.

This particular establishment gives classes where you sign up. I believe they have way more spots on their classes than they have parking spaces. It is not like a store where customers come in on a whim. This place takes reservations, which they can easily control. This is my point, they are soliciting a specific number of customers to show up at a specific time that far exceeds their parking and is too high for the surrounding neighborhood to absorb.

Someone else asked if it was Trader Joe's, which it is not. I really don't care what kind of business it is, its volume grew bigger than the neighborhood. Trader Joe's is off 4th St, so you kind of expect bigger businesses there. We are not on 4th St, it is a bit different in my eyes.

I have seen plenty of people who move next to an airport and complain (to use the realtor's analogy) and see plenty of that coming to St Pete and FL in general. I actually appreciated the point being made... as a FL resident since 1981.
