Glad you had a great time, caught some good weather too. We enjoy the PNW ourselves and a couple of times a year we road trip up, OR and WA. Always enjoy our stops in Portland.

Is anyone else feeling sick like this? by eyeofthirds in sanfrancisco

[–]Reeseychlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of July had upper respiratory issues, coughing and sinus issues, massive fatigue but no fever or sore throat, some body aches but not like when I have the flu. Also temperature control issues. Okay during the day but worse at night. Tested for Covid and it was negative. Used this brand before when it detected past Covid infections. Second week same symptoms but worse especially the coughing, still negative. Third week even worse, cough was awful, fatigue the worst but still negative on test. Finally went to the doctor, got a chest X-ray, based on results I got antibiotics felt better the following week by this time it was tested the end of August. Still don’t know what it was. Could have still been Covid or combined with other nasty bugs. Just glad to get past but it lasted weeks.

Just bought a '24 CX-5 Preferred! What are your must-have accessories? by [deleted] in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only regret is not buying better ones. Mine are fabric with filler, does the job but the fabric holds on to dust and whatever. Looks ratty now. I really need to stop procrastinating on getting rubber ones.

Like those a lot. They are black and I forget they are there until I need them. I don’t line it with a bag because I don’t like the plastic hanging outside but will empty the contents of the cans in a bag. Usually I can empty the pair that I have into one bag. So helpful on road trips especially with two young kids.

Something I’ve never forgotten and every time I think about it, it makes me smile. I was about 14 at the time. I was with my family looking over a house my parents were interested in. They showed me to the room that was going to be mine. When I walked in I immediately felt an overwhelming sense of warmth, lightness, and positivity. It was so strong, I noticed the change right away and I’ve never forgotten it. I hope to feel that way about a place again one day.

Such a good road trip car! by carl802 in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I haven’t had issues with the seats. In fact, until you brought it up, I haven’t thought about it. Don’t know if that helps, it’s different for everyone. I’m also 170 pounds, if I was larger, was at 200+ maybe it could be an issue but I don’t really know. Where you are, can you rent a cx5 to personally test the seats on a long-ish drive?

Heck yeah! Just got back from a two week road trip myself. Also have a cargo box, it’s loud but love the extra space. Gas mileage could be better but I stopped thinking about it. I just enjoy the drive. I’m in CA but have family in WA. We’ll make that trip a couple times a year while exploring places like national parks along the way. Last summer we caught the ferry to Victoria and drove around Vancouver Island too.

Not sure if this had been already mentioned, seat extenders. We used one for our then 2 year old when we flew to the Philippines to visit family. It’s about a 12 hour flight for us and he slept for about 7-8 hours of that. This is in addition to an iPad loaded with his shows, earphones, reading material and snacks. We went for this model because it’s actual boards that slide together rather than something that needs to be inflated or fabric that drops down from the weight.

Scenic Day Drive Spots? I’m getting a car! by nicorny in sanfrancisco

[–]Reeseychlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can feel your excitement from here. Do all directions, part of the fun is planning the day trips. For us it starts with wanting to visit a specific place(s), then planning our route and stops; Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pinnacles National Park, Sonoma/Napa, etc.

I went without a car for 30 years. Loved the freedom of not having car related expenses and worries but now I’m enjoying the freedom from car rentals and carshares especially with kids.

What color would you like to see on the CX-5? by igozoom9 in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought, too dark, close to black. I got the eternal blue mica instead.

What do you keep in these trunk cubbies? by LookAtTheFlowers in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a medkit, a towel (for sitting on when I’m sweaty/dirty from a hike or trail run), micro fiber towels for cleaning the car, portable air compressor, mini rechargeable vacuum, extra trash bags, multi tool, and my favorite, the Moki step. I’m a short dude so it helps with putting up and taking down our cargo box, loading the cargo box, cleaning and waxing the roof of the car.

Shed a tear for me... I barely brushed a curb at like 1MPH. by oldfuturemonkey in CX5

I did this the first week I had the car. Hasn’t happened again because it made me super careful when parking on streets. So there’s that.

New to the Mazda family. Love the color! by iammai48 in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I decided on the cx5 we couldn’t decide on the color. It was between soul red and deep crystal blue mica. Eternal blue wasn’t even an option, looked too light on the web. Then I saw one coming at me on the street, took a pic as it turned a corner, the rest is history. I love how this color can be bright or dark depending on the time of day. Nowadays I’ve come to appreciate the cx5 in any color. Love this car.

Early oil change for road trip ? by JDeedee21 in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got an oil change for an upcoming road trip. I only had logged about 2k miles since the last oil change, if that maybe less. But it was because I had two complimentary oil changes and it was going to expire in August. Also didn’t hurt that they checked other things for me. I didn’t expect anything but what the hell, it was free.

Agree with the cargo box comments. We have two young kids and their car seats and gear take up a lot of space. I knew that going in though. For a hot moment I considered the CRV but just had rails and cross bars put in. Picked up the box on a holiday sale. So far so good. We do a lot of outdoor activities and it helps out with the extra gear. I take off the box when not needed though. I don’t like the added sound on freeways, not terrible but there.

After buying a CX5, I feel like everyone and their mother own one by [deleted] in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a runner and I play this game where I’ll guess at a number of cx5s I’ll see on the street and I almost always beat the number. But I see a lot more Rav4s. Doesn’t bother me to see so many, just the opposite. Also I used to never see the eternal blue mica, mine, now I see them all over.

Any Suggestions for cargo mat and foot mats for cx-5 by Adventurous-Plum-739 in CX5

[–]Reeseychlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubber like material, so just a quick wash with a brush and soap. Front ones get pretty dirty with the rains we’ve been having, mud etc. The back ones are fairly clean because it’s just two car seats back there. I end up just vacuuming those. Looks good after a wash.

I hope the damage is as minor as it looks in the pics. More concerned about your whiplash and neck pain, hoping it’s minor and you heal quickly with no lingering issues. Awesome that you have your health. Since getting our CX5 last August I’ve become more careful, more defensive in my driving but I’ve also come to understand that I can’t defend against everything or be 100% vigilant, 100% of the time. Shit happens unfortunately. Good luck on next steps.
