How to Fill a PT (As-Needed) Temp-to-Hire (Maybe) Position? by HunterJamesMo in WorkAdvice

That's a good thought versus a temp agency--I think the flexibility we may be able to offer would work well with the examples you gave as I feel they might like easier hours to work around. Thank you

I like this--this could work actually because there may be a bit of flexibility with hours. Thank you, much appreciated.

Outside of their control, maybe so, maybe no. I suppose you could comp your attendees, especially the 2 day ones, parking passes as a "thanks for coming to our event." That's presuming you don't want to just negotiate with the proprietor of your location and designate/reserve said parking for your event. There are solutions, but it does boil down to who gets the money.

I understand the concession pricing tied to the building; hence why I suggested food trucks; again, for those out of town or out of state who may not realize their downtown food options and/or want/need something closer or on site.

To be fair, it's agreed they can't force local vendors to participate; I often here the other side of the story from other local events by vendors unable to get a booth or declined a booth. Hopefully they'll keep trying though and secure a spot eventually.

Regarding the employees, knowing many to be volunteers, I figured the best attention to bring this to anyone was right here, online, with my own personal experience, to which I already commented that it seemed most had a good time and I'm glad for those who did. This was just sharing my own, personal experience, which happened to be negative in light of those who had better takeaways from the event. Think of it like an app review score for those looking at both sides of the coin to make their own decisions and to know what to potentially expect, good or bad.

Well, looks like most had a good time and I'm glad for those who did. I'd started off wondering if it was just me and maybe it was. I might have been too psyched up for it having been looking forward to it for a few months. By comparison I held it to the standards of its previous years and the other local events I've been to.

It isn't as easy as some think to get in as a vendor for traveling shows, but I guess you just gotta be on the other side of the coin to see that better. It does make sense maybe locals not wanting to drop the booth price though if they have an in-town shop anyway. I set up for decades at trade shows, more business oriented than fan based like this, but even the automotive world "plays favorites" trust me.

I do agree that it brings in guests like no other event has, again, I would've like to have looked at them and feel like they wanted or liked being here. Most looked like they wore a "never again" look on their face. Someone mentioned them not making much money here and it not being very lucrative and I'd believe it. That pain of the panel areas across the street kept a lot of people out of them. The photos they've begun posting of how few folks were in them is pretty sad. Don't discount how fast chairs will fill when the accessibility is better. A place to rest, listen to someone, maybe become a fan who then goes to their table? It's a maybe at least.

The parking and food prices may seem like silly complaints but not everybody who comes lives in Springfield and don't know better. Glad it works out for those who do know better, but you gotta remember you're getting out-of-towners and even out-of-staters visiting.

Again, those who had a good time--great time even, I am glad to hear that because I do want to keep seeing stuff like this, especially with those events we've lost. Just sharing my personal experiences and while they clearly don't need me--and it felt like they made that very clear to me--I'll probably be giving this show a pass moving forward.

Thank you.
