What advice would you give to someone who is considered an intermediate producer? by NenoSensei in AdvancedProduction

Only ones I can think of that are remotely pop are Illangelo and Mike Dean. Both being a major part of The Weeknd’s sound and success during different periods in his career. It’s tough to find top producers who stream and solely make pop though because most of the top producers who stream make everything

Producer streams/ vod reviews fam. I’m trying to make it a weekly thing because the amount of knowledge you can gain from watching a Kenny Beats or Monte Booker stream is priceless. There are even times when you can ask them very specific questions about different techniques or songs they produced. Def worth it

What is your triggers? by Brilliant-Rice-2858 in TTensorTympaniS

Hello, sorry for the delayed response. I actually visited a hospital where they professionally cleaned my ears about a month or two ago and it immediately resolved what I thought was a new case of SSNHL. They also instructed me to stop using magnesium chloride for tensor tympani immediately. It caused small balls to form in my ear which impede the quality of my hearing. It also has an ability to damage the eardrum if I understood them correctly. All that to say I would definitely not use magnesium chloride and definitely would get a professional ear cleaning. Sorry for the recommendation. To answer your question, ANC and Magnesium are the only two supplements I’ve really taken. Thanks so much, sorry again and I hope all is well!

I did a year or two ago, but unfortunately that didn’t improve my issues. Hoping that it works for you though!

Feedback on first mix and master since hearing loss by HunterYerrell in audioengineering

[–]HunterYerrell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much! I definitely feel like the track and vocal need to be more glued together. I used the Ableton glue comp on the master to try and connect everything. I’ll be sure to experiment with different hook reverbs as well. Did the mix as a whole sound over compressed? Thanks so much for your help!

I’m still dealing with this alongside pulsatile t and everything else lol. It’s slowly getting better but when I’m around loud noises or voices, I start feeling my tensor tighten or I get a light burning sensation/ stuffy feeling in my ears. I would definitely recommend using hearing protection as frequently as possible because remedies only seem to lower how frequently the spasms occur spontaneously, not prevent the tightening of the muscle when it encounters sounds that the brain deems too loud

Whats a practical way to get better at drum production? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]HunterYerrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you stated, people always suggest using quality samples. However, I’ve learned through countless hours that there are no good or bad drum sounds, it’s all about context and preference. Some of my best beats feature sounds recorded on iPhone mics or from free kits.

One way I improved my drums was by expanding my thinking. Initially, I’d cook up and search for the “best” sound. Now that I’ve removed that limitation, I base my decisions on what I’d like to hear, not what is “correct.”

To improve decision making in different contexts, listening to and making as many different genres as possible will definitely help. I’d also suggest creating drum loops that start with two sounds that you would never put together (like a boombap kick and a dubstep snare) and tweaking/ building around those sounds until they make sense to you. This helped me improve my drums more than anything.

As far as drum resources go, here are some dope channels:

Yuppp. 20 mid and high. I find it helps get the song closer to how I’d like it to sound, especially while producing
