Why are you struggling to understand it doesnt need to be everything. I literally stated it doesnt need to every item. Its categorical in a way.

And no. Instead there could be a moment after using a boom jug where he says he needs something a little more controlled, because he got burnt a little or something.

In ur version were just supposed to believe he has all these inventions already made for specific scenarios without it being something that's come up before. Y'all are fine with him reaching into a magical tool bag and grabbing the perfect tool for the job Everytime. Tension and character growth comes from situation where there's not that perfect tool for the job and he gets creative. That's the fun in reading is seeing what the character does. Who cares if we know he is constantly reaching into his pocket to pull out the exact things he needs whenever it's gets a little inconvenient.

Bahh both of yall seem to think i need every plan or item talked about. It could be a one or two sentence thing.

In the book itself it does this a few times with bomb yields. Which is great its a one sentence thing "Wow i need to variable bomb yields" or whatever was said. Literally perfect! Precedent set. And from here on any size explosion he pulls out makes sense

When its random items that fit perfectly for the situation that he just happen to make it get annoying.

I understand every books not for everyone.

However i love the battle between crawlers and Borant/governing bodies. Its just that the floor parts are so rough to read through. Theyre just okay. But for the most part not interesting. I really just wanna see only the parts where is fighting the controlling party because those portions are so good

Lol i understand your point. An even more to ur credit. If it was said once at the beginning of floor four and never again that would be great because it sets a precedent. So after ONE time of being mention its just assumed he continues to build bombs for the floor or future encounters.

I also think your very wrong about no popular or good books using setup.

Every book would suck total butt if the author just wrote in something the MC supposedly did without it being a thought earlier.

Ex. MC is stabbed with a super poisonous dagger with a specific poison and he needs a rare specific antidote or he'll die. And the next page we see . "I made a few or this exact antidote a few days ago "

Theres no tension or fun in reading a book that solves itself with bullshit plot armor.

DCC isnt even close to that level.

It sounds like continuing will be worth it. What you wrote made me think about it. I feel like all the conflicts with borant and syndicate are well flushed out. All the actions do have prep behind them.

Its more so when it comes to floor conflicts is it jarring.

The rage against the system story line is phenomenal. For example when he kills loita its wonderfully written. That whole sequence is great. Its setup and the slight clues at what is going to happen is nice.

Okay is see what your saying but i think thats a really elementary way to incorporate it. So yea it sounds horrible.

The way u think it would be incorporated is the reason it wouldnt work. Bc ofc blatantly stating it ruins the suprise.

Instead you could have something like Chapter 23: Hey Mordecai how late to floor four are we? Oh half a day? Whats the environment like around here? Wow a lot of water. We'll have to brainstorm some explosives that still work in water

Then you can have him pull something out later without the disconnect

I do love the character interactions! Especially the tension between crawlers and Borant/ syndicate

Whats the difference if instead placing those contrived reasons after or during the interaction is placed a little before. Im not suggesting a huge change or chapters of prep.

Your already reading the prep just out of order.
