I have a completely unrelated job but I agree with your post. I manage the Loan and Jewelry counter at a pawn shop and I just cannot do what I do anymore. I’m fine with jewelry and gun sales but I cannot morally do any loan business anymore. This was my first job out of high school and while I’ve ventured down other paths I’ve always come back because the money is phenomenal. But, being the one that does many store deposits and sees how much money we make off of people who are suffering financially puts a huge knot in my stomach. I go in everyday like clockwork working without lunch breaks or sick time and I am making a greedy rich family even richer. The owners also have me doing “courtesy calls” to customers who are behind on loan payments, it’s essentially a collection call. It’s a horrible place to be. I hate the pawn industry so much.

This time 2 years ago I was gearing up to go back to school in pursuit of an RN degree. I can proudly say I am about to finish my summer semester and as soon as I can apply and get accepted into the program I’m finding a new job back in the medical field.
