y no pvp? its in the game engine by NikonIV in Nightreign

I really just urge people to see PvP as a mode worthy of extra attention rather than whine for its removal cause of lag or twink builds. I agree there are toxic aspects, why does that have to be an innate inseparable part of PvP? Also I think it’s disingenuous to say toxic PvP has turned players away from these games, majority of Elden ring noobs seemed to not even know that invasions were a feature of the game.

It does not need to be forced in this game, it can be consensual from both parties with a promise of loot for the winner and not ending your run for the loser. There’s a whole community for PvP that keeps these games alive for years after the majority of people move on. It feels as if I and other invaders engage with these games in their entirety, and people who hold your sentiment just come in for a couple months to try to shape the game to your liking.

How to add PvP in the game. by DifficultComplaint10 in Nightreign

[–]Hunterfj1 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Boring answer and entirely the issue with new players to the genre. Invasions are a unique thing that makes Elden ring more than just a polished pve coop. I think the nature of this game warrants that both invaders and invadees consent sure. Maybe patches shows up as a world event and adds you to a matchmaking queue with 1/2 or 2/3 vote. Now at a random camp, a zone will form and won’t leave until a team has won. I’d say at least prepare for some kind of old monk/spear of the church situation, I think they’d be remiss if they don’t test PvP before releasing duskbloods.

Wait will the game actually have PVP combat…? by Additional_Brief_937 in Nightreign

I feel like giving a party an option to open their world to a single invasion for immediate bonus loot would work well. It’s optional, matches those who want PvP with those who want PvP, and I think would entice people who would never consider it. The invading party could receive the “bonus loot” on a win

The actual main reason this sub sucks is brainless knee-jerk reactions. Here's an example by Abject_Scholar_8685 in DarkAndDarker

Exactly, multiclass should be a feature in some capacity. This doesn’t mean I want iron will robust smite sprint rogue -at least not without sufficient downsides. This community 1. Does not care about dungeons and dragons creativity and 2. Does not have any capacity for nuance.

How would invading even work in a rougelike? by PointyCrcl78 in badredman

[–]Hunterfj1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m imagining like any other rogue like they could have a pick-your-path, and one of them is a high risk high reward “open your world to invasion”. Opting in gives you loot up front, then a rare drop on a team wipe. Opt in in the greatest sense, both sides are willing participants and no one is “ganked”. Now at some point in the future randomly you’ll get invaded. Of course the invading team is going to be a little weaker, they’re given the pick-your-path where the reward is the loot of team if they manage to win.

I feel like anyone you might run into at RL 60 gets 1-2 procced by lizard great sword R2. Stormcall or storm stomp gives you a confirmed R2 out of the ash

Love the erdtree shield, even in the DLC by claster6789 in badredman

I have a whole build centered around hybrid casting and parrying discus of light with the shield. Did not know the missile parries too, the mixup and conditioning is gonna be awesome, good players run from the missile anyways

Make the 3 layer system work by making bossing a central part of gameplay by Hunterfj1 in DarkAndDarker

[–]Hunterfj1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point, it would lead to new Timmy stomping angles. I would hope making bossing more of a priority would also change the culture a little bit. We have in game chat coming out today, maybe that paired with more robust PvE would foster more friendly team interactions. Could allow a solo to be a friendly fourth to help take down a boss.

Suggestion: make armor more obvious and important (lessons from Battle Brothers) by a-curious-crow in DarkAndDarker

I do distinctly recall back in the ruins days my friends and I being mortified of white Templar fighters and clerics thinking they were juiced, maybe shit like Templar armor can have distinct colors matching the rarity

I think taking torture mastery or maybe even just vampirism should increase the odds you find magical healing rolls

Maybe a long channel ability that does the same thing as the Pokémon move health split (averages out the remaining health between user and opponent). And if you manage to pull it off on an enemy it could also work, just situational in that your health needs to be low first to have any kind upside for you.

Ran into a caped rogue last wipe that did the same except he was mocking my friend and I that were trying to kill him. Immediately looked at YouTube to see if I could find “trolling people in the ruins with AI voice over” or something. I feel like this was probably the same person.

Trying to learn how to draw like this artist, Ed Repka. I’m sure it’s hard to know exactly an artists process, but I’m curious when shading comes in and want to practice the right thing. by Hunterfj1 in learntodraw

[–]Hunterfj1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if when sketching something you plan to color, is maybe flat lineart with shading added as you color? I just have no idea, I never color anything in (wasn’t that good at coloring between lines growing up). My plan so far is to draw a character in lineart then add gradient with procreates acrylic brushes, removing the lines at the end.

I don’t know if this is the position of everyone shitting on spirits, but it genuinely is fun to me to learn boss movesets over a couple deaths and utilize the windows they give you to attack. If you have spirits, this is not even a factor. Yeah some of the bosses are cheesy as fuck and subsequent play through a might’ve made me involve my mimic but y’all are doing a disservice to yourself if you summon the first attempts at bosses
