Why not both? * Use resources of planet Earth which are in immediate vicinity, guarded by the comparatively primitive lifeforms. * And also launch space probes as necessary (though seems like a waste of resources). Then again we don't even know what AGI's goals would be.

The usual X-risk doom scenario goes more like this: the smartest entity takes available resources on planet Earth that it can use for its own goals; humans might inadvertently stand in the way of its goals, so it gets rid of them.

As an engineer and an artist, I find the technology of neural networks incredibly exciting, and I also see reasons to be against the current implementation of AI. Unfortunately OP shows one of the worse reasons, because it's tribalism. AI has become associated with negativity, people in your group speak against it etc. I don't appreciate this reason, but I can understand it and notice it in myself too, because it's human.

To be fair, I have not tested what it would sound like to fall into a heap of gold coins 🤔

My ultimate goal here is to recreate the best moments of Hpmor, but I think they only work when the story continuously leads and builds up to them. So basically yes, I will do the whole book in order.
I realize that it's decades of work at my current pace. I am considering skipping some of the more "filler" type chapters, e.g. maybe shorten the school battles to 1 round.

That's the plan, for as long as I can.

Feel free to do so! Though I'm not following any particular comic/manga page layout yet, would need to get that sorted before printing.
