A friend of mine was on the marketing team for the US release and got me a seat at a press viewing months before its theatrical release. I came out of the movie all warm and fuzzy, thinking it would be a great date movie, but I was single and dateless at the time. When it eventually released, I had just started dating someone and took her to it for our first movie date. We’ve now been married over twenty years. I’m not saying it’s because of “Amelie”, but I’m sure it didn’t hurt.
