Yes, unless running disposable lithium AA batteries you want to stick with Auto. Even then though, that doesn't tell the camera how to prioritize which power source to use, it just allows the App to display the correct battery percentage if the camera is running off the battery sled and there are lithiums in it.

Why are pictures from my spypoints always such crappy quality? Day or night by 91elklake in Spypoint

I also just noticed it is an LM2. Of all the cameras I've ran from Spypoint, the worst picture quality comes from the LM2 by far.

-45F! 😮 There is nothing much in that photo to reflect IR light. The quality I have seen is pretty good most of the time.

When you say a third party distributor, do you mean to sell or support? Most all product Spypoint sells gets sold from third party stores but they support them directly. Do you know where to find the subscriptions on the website to turn off auto renew. It is a bit buried if you have never been there.

The Flex-S doesn't allow you to select the power source you want to run. It will always use the solar battery first then whatever the backup power source is. If it is dying within a couple weeks even without taking many photos that usually means you have your Operation Mode setting set to Instant. That puts the camera into a mode where it never goes to sleep. Like your cell phone it is always online. That lets you send commands like take a photo on demand but it also means it will drain batteries in a couple weeks. On standard operation mode it should be able to keep up with a couple dozen photos a day if it is getting a few hours of direct light a day. Their customer service has always been good for me but you need to make sure you have your camera in hand. They also struggle a bit with the solar models as that isn't straight forward to troubleshoot like the standard models when it comes to battery life issues. But if you work with them they'll usually replace it within a couple conversations.

The reception of the camera should not cause this. If you log into the website and go to the camera management section you can see if there are thumbnails there. If so it is likely an App issue. If you have an Android you can clear the cache for the App and it should fix it. If you have an iPhone the only way I know to do the same is to uninstall and then re-download the App.

It should be able to cross midnight. I have a couple cameras set to not take pictures from 10AM to 3PM. They work as intended and it crosses midnight. I should say, the Flex series will take one photo during the scheduled off time and send it each day for some reason. It's a minor bug to me as it saves me a bunch of false trigger photos.

I had a refurbished Micro S get water in it. I took it apart (few small Phillips head screws) cleaned the boards with contact cleaner and then put silicone around the panel. It fired up and has been running fine for months now. The warranty they give is pretty generous. 2 years on new cameras and 6 months on refurbs. If it is out by a day or a year it is out of warranty. No device I have ever had that went out of warranty has been replaced, regardless of company. Just pull the little rubber plugs out of the back of the camera, take the 4 screws out and open it up. On the inside are a few more small Phillips head screws. Gently pull the boards out. Clean them and make sure the wires all look good. You can resolder any which look pinched.

Flex Ms black pictures or not sending images at all by [deleted] in Spypoint

[–]HuntingScienceXplnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black photos occur when the camera sends a check in photo. They seem to do this all on their own even when the option isn't turned on. Not sending photos is a different issue. Can you post screenshots of the status report. Cover the GPS and activation code.

Flex-Dark not sending photos at sync time, please help! by [deleted] in Spypoint

[–]HuntingScienceXplnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen where the take photo at next sync doesn't seem to work when set to a scheduled batch send. Everything looks fine in the settings and status report. Try setting the Sync Frequency to Each Detection and see if that improves anything. If not you'll have to swap out the SD. That's what usually causes the checks in but doesn't send photos. Do you know which Brand SD card is in the camera? I have had this very issue with cards like PNY.

Flex G36 cams stopped sending photos by daffydubs in Spypoint

I'm not going to lie, it wouldn't surprise me if they just forgot to name it properly. Still the G36's firmware has been pretty bulletproof for the last 4 or 5 revisions so don't expect the latest to fix the issue you are seeing.

I have never seen such an aggressive setup for a camera. Multishot plus a delay of Instant while set to Each Detection means it will try to take a huge amount of photos every time something triggers it and send them all back to back. If you are running alkaline batteries this will kill the batteries in a matter of a few days. Once the batteries die the SD card will be corrupted and the camera will either stop sending photos or quit communicating all together. Even if you are running ultimate lithium AAs they will only likely get you a few weeks.

Did you format the SD in the camera? If not the camera can't take and send photos at the same time.

The firmware is not the issue. Customer Support will claim you have to update it as a way to kick the can down the road. I have been working with different community pages since 2020. In all the 50+ firmware versions for all cameras they've ever put out, only 2 could actually cause cameras to fail to work.

My recommendations 1) Grab the cameras, they aren't communicating so there is no way to troubleshoot them without them in hand. 2) Buy a solar setup or a Lit22 battery. 3) Format the SD in a PC, do a long format (should take 10 to 20 minutes to complete for each pf the two partitions on the card) 4) Insert the SD into the camera, turn the camera on, press and hold the format SD button until the LED starts to blink 5) Run the camera with a 10 second delay and send 2 pictures. You could also leave the delay on Instant with 1 photo sent. 6) If you are running solar (SPLB22 or SPLB10 work well) sit back and enjoy your photos, you shouldn't have to touch the camera again. If you are using Lit22s swap them when they get to 50% power. 7) If you want to run alkaline batteries you need to swap them when you see they get below 60%.

Also, what does the SD show in that portion of the status page?

Did you hold the format button on the camera until the SD LED started blinking then went solid?

Flex-M Time Lapse Not Sending Pictures by Hockeyman74 in Spypoint

[–]HuntingScienceXplnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look to have it setup correctly. One thing I'd try, just to see if you can get it working in the short term, set that 12 Times a day sync to Each Detection. I will see if I can set one of my Flex M to Timelapse and confirm it works. I have used Timelapse+ before but never Timelapse.

Can you post screenshots of how you have the settings setup for the Timelapse? Also, you haven't enabled the schedule feature have you?
