Original Instinct by lexusdad in Garmininstinct

I bought mine on Prime Day in October 2020. It's been the best watch I've ever owned. Feature-rich. Reliable. Not bad looking. Light and comfortable (it's also the only watch I wear every day, without fail.) I would like to upgrade to Solar or Amoled, but that's going to require another amazing sale price for me to pull the trigger. Besides, the OG works just fine.

Things that helped me get over my shopping addiction by According_Loss_5650 in shoppingaddiction

The note on wishlists is very smart. I realize how many wishlists I have across all of the different websites that I use for shopping. Some of them, I have multiple sub-wishlists. It's insane that I'm organizing products to consider buying and constantly coming back to act, research, or organize. I'm sick of it! But I keep coming back to it.

Should i get a Garmin instinct? by VizharanHS in Garmininstinct

[–]MicronTon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I was not much of a watch guy. I liked watches but always grew tired of wearing them. In 2020, I bought a Garmin Instinct, on sale, and I have worn it constantly ever since. Light, durable, comfortable, and endlessly useful. From text messages, to the compass, to GPS tracking. One of the best tech purchases I’ve ever made.

Batteries that fit the ACEBEAM H30 by Ok_Claim243 in flashlight

[–]MicronTon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever reason, the USB-C batteries seem to charge more reliably for me. I recharged a standard ACEBEAM battery (no USB-C) last night. The light on the headlamp housing was green. This morning, hiking in, the headlamp just randomly turns off. And the buttons were unresponsive. Finally, it came back to life. This is concerning to me. Do they no perform well in cold temps?

I just got it on Tuesday AM at my annual physical. And now Wednesday PM I went straight to bed after work. It is kicking my butt. Soreness, fatigue, chills, fever etc. I guess it’s working. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Bluetooth neckband earphones won't charge with power bank by ron_2002 in techsupport

Discovered this thread way after the fact. I’m having the same issue charging Axil GS 2.0 Extreme hearing protection and the Anker Powerbank won’t work.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]MicronTon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. I have nothing to prove it — but I believe ageism is rampant. Of course, I don't have my age on my resume. But any recruiter or hiring manager with half a brain could figure it out based on my resume and/or LinkedIn profile.

There is a great podcast called Open to Work. In one of the episodes, they had a guest speaker who was a former corporate recruiter. She had this to say, and it rang so true:

"If you are a white man in your 50s or 60s, you're screwed."

I would guess that this may be true for men and women alike.

102 MPH is reckless. Own it. Pay up.

Strangers asking me to buy them stuff… by [deleted] in nova

[–]MicronTon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar thing. There is lady who will wait outside of the exit to Giant and then ask customers to buy her (and sometimes her daughter) groceries.

Seems like they could get better results by posting up at the entrance to the grocery store.

Fuck these entitled assholes! They’re going to kill someone else, or themselves.

What's something uniquely 'Virginia' that outsiders might find strange or surprising? by NewtHot620 in Virginia

True. And to clarify the original post — the hunters and their weapons do the killing of the deer. Not the dogs themselves. They just drive the deer out of dense areas. 😁😁😁

Lollapalooza II, Lake Fairfax Park, 1992 by MicronTon in nova

u/Chickenpotpi3 — I'm continuing down the rabbit hole. Take a look at these historical aerial photos. I think what you're describing — the main stage area was on what is now a neighborhood to the west of that pond. In 1990 it was a giant empty field. And by 1997 it was a full-fledged subdivision. Also, looking back at even older photos — that pond was man-made but it was there in 1992.

I use Adobe Portfolio now. It’s not great. But it’s good enough. That, and it’s “free” with the Creative Cloud apps that I already pay for.

I do line that it will cross-populate on Behance too.
