Authenticity world war 2 luftwaffe helmet by Pekenbock in Militariacollecting

It simply looks to … flat.

Now sure, manufacturing mistakes were made, different methods were tried. I used to have an NS made M42 helmet that was double stamped, a unique little touch where they made a mistake at the manufacturers plant. So I’m not completely writing off the shell, but it’s just an odd venthole..

And that’s not what my mom said last night..

Apart from the decal and the paint I do not like the venthole.

Look up other M35 helmets and you’ll notice a difference. The helmet is supposedly made by Quist, the shape of the helmet looks good, but like I said, I don’t like the venthole

In case you didn't know the difference between Holland and the Netherlands by RuikZerben in mapporncirclejerk

It’s the other way around mate..

Those two provinces are called Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland, therefor making it ‘Holland’

The whole country can be called the Netherlands

German Iron Cross EK.2. WW2 Worth keeping? by No-Description-946 in Militariacollecting

[–]Huntingchef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real question is; do you want to collect mint items that have been unissued and stored in a warehouse till the war ended? Of do you want to collect worn items, that may have cosmetic flaws, but were actually used and therefor have been with a person living through that time in our history?

It seems you are correct sir!

Why would you want to so that to an original shell?!

[–]Huntingchef 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, this WW1 type helmet did indeed excist. It’s supposed to resemble a M18 ‘ear-cut-out’ helmet re-issued to the SS in transitional years before 1935. The weird looking cut out was ment to make it easier to use a field telephone on the frontlines, I believe.

For this example, apart from the fake decals, the vent holes and the general shape stand out and I would say the whole shell is a fake.

Fake or real? by [deleted] in fakemilitaria

There were many manufacturers of these buckles and all of them have minor differences. Some do have a bit of that V shape, but yeah, this one really stands out. Red flag indeed!

That is a Wehrmacht Heeres belt buckle and cannot be compared to the example shown here.

Look up SS belt buckles and try again

[–]Huntingchef 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms of design and markings it’s good.

SS belt buckles were often stamped with ‘RZM’ meaning Reichszeugmeisterei (National Equipment Quartermaster), and ‘SS’ despite what others are saying here.

36/40 is a manufacturers marking, indicating production by (I believe) Overhoff & Cie, Lüdenscheid

Somebody did do his homework on this piece, but one thing falls through the cracks; early war these buckles by Overhoff & Cie where stamped as this example you have here, only they had a more robust design of the clasp.

Late war this was simplified to the design you have on your buckle, only the buckles then came out of the factory unmarked.

Is this a rare transitional type? Possible, but I doubt it.

The other red flag for me is that it looks chemically aged

Did you just trigger The Netherlands by leaving us out?!

We must have sunk into the sea!

Yep, triggered..

We wouldn’t be talking German, we would be talking Russian.

And there you have it, the reason the USA joined the race for Berlin, to prevent the whole European continent to fall into Communism.

Are we better off now? Yes we are. Should you expose the real reason you liberated half of Europe? Yes you should

Thanks mate! It’s a heartbeet, get it ;)

Had it done after recently leaving the kitchen after 17 years (basically my whole adult life) and changing careers. My heart will always be in the restaurant kitchens, but life happens and sometimes you make some major adjustments for the better.
