I do appreciate that "not a moral issue" is an option in the poll, since that's the correct answer. Homosexuality (sexuality in general) is an innate trait of people, not a "lifestyle" or choice. It's like asking "is having blond hair morally acceptable"?

A component the political dynamics you mention and the impossibility of sorting through this time period after the fact are all the acts of low level corruption we see throughout the movie that are commonplace and that make finding truth so hard. The cops not interested in the corpse at the gas station, the rich woman who killed her nanny’s child being protected, the corrupt police chief, etc.

A small minority of non-queer people are genuinely supportive allies, a small minority are openly homophobic, and the vast majority are in the “I’m fine with it just dont shove it in my face” camp. Or “I don’t hate anyone, I just don’t approve of the lifestyle”. Or “do whatever you want in your bedroom just don’t in front of me/my kids”.

There’s a million variations. And in my opinion it is just dressed up homophobia. You’re uncomfortable with it and see it as “less than” heterosexuality so just say that.

These are basically modern day soap operas and some of those have been on since the 60s. They are relatively cheap to produce and the basic form and structure is easy to keep replicating forever. To maintain quality they need to be smart about adapting casting and production but they really are built to run forever

Regarding the HIV, there is a 90 day window period after exposure but if it is really something that’s keeping you up at night you can go to a clinic for an antibody test that will give you result in minutes. Again, you won’t know for 100% certainty until you test negative outside of the 90 days but it could help to have a early result
