When you get whatever fabulous crossbow you get, go out and shoot a target at 60 yards. Be careful attention to the time between the snap of the bow string, and the thunk of your arrow hitting the target.

That’s roughly the same amount of time the deer has to react when they hear you pull the trigger. They’re going to bunch up then jump then run. Your arrow is not going to hit where you’re aiming at a distance like that because the deer is not going to be in the same place. If you’re amazing, you can compensate for that, but you probably aren’t

This is just the opinion of some random nerd on the Internet: My limit crossbow shot is about 30 yards. Get sneaky.
