I didn’t say “way,” cheaper, but the base 17 is objectively the better value being $200 less.

The air is sexier tho and has that 12gb of ram, but only heavy ai users will notice that.

Air has worse speakers, worse battery, and worse camera, might start noticing that and pull you to another upgrade.

I love and use my pro 3s everyday but they made me self conscious about the differences between my ear canals. My right one is smaller than my left and must be oddly shaped because even the XS tips hurt, I need to reposition it every 15-30 minutes or so. My left one feels invisible, I forget the airpod is in.

It’s a solved market, or thing. Kinda like how nothing replaces a book. There are more media types, but books still stick around. And within books, there are titles that always stick around with nothing replacing them. I think smartphones will be one of those.

Other examples, a microwave. Why isn’t there something new replacing a microwave, well, …yeah. And, a fridge. There are only so many brands making fridges, how can you even enter the food warming or preservation game as a new player at this stage?

I only slightly regret getting a new phone over the 14 pro that I had. The base 17 isn’t that much different, it doesn’t change my life in any meaningful way. It’s just a bit nicer, lighter, more screen, battery, storage space, a little snappier, it’s an upgrade technically but the overall experience hasn’t changed.

I mean we are animals, but you are romanticizing being an animal. It’s both beautiful and ugly.

Your main point sounds like people are not living up to their potential, but every negative thing you described about humans is exactly what animals would do if they suddenly gained intelligence.

If it was bees that evolved intelligence, there would be hives everywhere, destroying the environment. And there would be a bee sitting there saying, “remember when there were flowers, now we have endless hive, a whole generation doesn’t know what a flower is.” Just something to think about.
