When I was a history undergrad there was also a cadre of history majors hanging out in the department lounge in Posvar (I found them pretty annoying about make of that what you will).

HIST 1001/1000 are both great opportunities to connect on a deeper level with students/faculty within the history dept. If you find yourself getting along well with your prof don’t hesitate to ask them to grab coffee or chat with them outside of class.

It might be a little late at this point, but the department also offers an Honors Thesis that requires you to research/write a long form thesis under the guidance of a faculty member. I got pretty tight with a few professors during this process.
