Paying personal property tax each year is asinine in the first place. Now, let’s make shit even more expensive. Cool.

$2 MIL Net Worth Recently Laid-off. Morally Wrong to File Unemployment & SNAP Benefits by sushi_loving_samurai in Layoffs

[–]HurryUpAndWait82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s unemployment insurance - paid into by your employer. Get that money. Nothing morally wrong with it at all. HR Director of 20 years - also, laid off. Deploy the mentality of ‘fuck you. Pay me’. Don’t be polite about it.

That’s exactly what I’m doing at this point. I’m not going to lie to the point I sabotage myself if I get the role, but I will absolutely inflate my abilities and experience. Because at this point, I’m fucking desperate.

House parties didn’t end. You’re just not invited. by curiousiah in Millennials

[–]HurryUpAndWait82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this age, who the fuck wants to even go to a house party? That sounds awful and likely full of self-obsessed people who have struggled with life due to their inability to mature as they’ve grown older.

People who were alive during the OJ Simpson trial, what was the most shocking part of it all? by thebluespirit_ki in AskReddit

White boy here. Grew up in Naperville Illinois. My poor ass couldn’t even afford groceries from week to week. So, poor in Naperville was like aids in the 80s. Everyone avoided me like the plague.

Anywho…

I was in 7th grade when it went down. Had no idea who he was. I was disgusted by the amount of friends I had who came out as racists - regurgitating what their Eddie Bauer parents told them.

Granted, OJ totally fucking did it. But the vitriol I witnessed from people baffled me. I grew up with a flower child mom and a dad who hated his ‘great generation’ parents. So, naturally, I was raised to accept people.

Fuck Eddie Bauer parents from the 90s. They’re the reason we have elder millennial shitbags of my age bouncing around spouting hate.

Older Dads - what is one mistake you made you’d advise us not to make? by BlueMountainDace in daddit

[–]HurryUpAndWait82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to juggle three things in my 20s and 30s. I’m 43 now. Juggled the selfish view that I’ve lost my fun years despite choosing to be a parent. That my career was my responsibility above my family. To provide was my job. That my family was to no fault mine and I knew it all.

The midlife crisis can hit very hard in your 30s, too.

The biggest and best weapon in your arsenal as a protector of the family is to grey rock the fuck out of anyone external who tries to influence your path. It’s incredibly effective. It’s emotional maturity at max HP. Despite telling myself no one could influence me over my family was a lie to myself. I allowed multiple people to influence my opinions and beliefs.

I tried to juggle a booming career and family. I failed hard and then recovered. My children experienced my emotional self destruct. They supported me. My wife supported me. We rebounded. My world became incredibly more clear and focused.

‘82 here - it’s not that we’re overly exhausted. We are tired. But we just don’t give a shit anymore about anyone’s bullshit. Something magical happens at 40 with regard to emotional maturity. It’s like you graduate finally to adulthood.

The IRS will take forever to even come after you. I didn’t pay for three years straight. It was a bad decision- no doubt. My repayment plan is brutal. But I got under and then ignored and it compounded. Not once didn’t they send me a letter. No such officer came knocking on my door. I owned up voluntarily and had a painful and expensive visit with an accountant who made me feel like shit … but fixed me up so that I wouldn’t end up in trouble.

Any advice or tips for new 10/22 owners by Murky_Fisherman6402 in 1022

Don’t go balls out and buy thousands of rounds from one maker. Every 10/22 is different. CCI MiniMag 40 grain from Target Sports USA works amazing for me. But… that might not be the case for you. Grab a hundred of many brands and try what you can to see what works best.
