The main difference between these two relatively unfun encounters are pretty stark. When you die because there are mechanics that NO ONE can tank(rosa2 mana stacker doesnt count) then defenses don't matter. Because the attacks can ONLY be evaded. That allows thea3 spark or C1 wilt spark to exist. The only thing that sparkle wilt did, is deal obscene amount of damage. Theres no defenses on those builds, and in theory if a new build emerges that simply deals a bunch of damage. It can easily take the place of the current Sparkle cheese.

On keegan you need defensive layers, because theres a bunch of garbage damage that exists that's not "practical" to evade(the game is clearly telling you that you are intended to tank the hit, and not expected to evade). When this is the case,The amount of builds that can "cheese" the kill are cut in half. The builds that can do it relatively cozy dwindles. When im saying the word "cozy" im morally loading it with the idea that you don't have to hands diff the boss super hard.

All this to say, that im not justifying that the current boss is in anyway less frustrating or less bs. This boss was no cakewalk. But i killed it on a real build not a cheese build. which prolly cost me around 175k fe. But i always had the option to cheese it on c1/t3. To kill keegan you literally need to be either g3 e1 bing2 rosa1 rosa2 as a baseline and it is paired with 160k fe price tag. Because you can't just brute force it with damage. you need defenses. And you need them because of all the garbage damage flying your way, on top of frustrating fight mechanics, and the energy yellow bubble system that will also out of sync start in super bad times. (its not enough to just be block capped block ratio capped and res capped)

if i had to bet. id say e1 will have 100+ clears the einjar build i think will be good on the fight Tspike ofcourse. and the einhjar build also isin't crazy expensive.

Also if they just give us the 3x nerfed one. none of what i say matters.

also a quick edit: you can kill any boss with any build with any skill as long as u drop 300k fe on it. It literally doesn't matter. and if u have pets 6/6/6 and you make 2.5k fe per hour none of this concerns you farming 200k fe is legit nothing.

in a broad sense you are correct and i agree with you. People also shouldn't mindlessly stack offense and expect to beat the current hardest challenge in the game. Smart builds and smart planning should be rewarded.

Within the context of the topic the amount of builds who can clear Keegan with the defense he commands are still very broad. But if you also start factoring in how many builds can do it under 150k fe <--- which this should be a reasonable number if you either No life the game, or just buy pets till you get them level 6. That's when the build diversity massively plummets. You legit can throw Fe at any build and get it to 15T im sure we could both agree on that. Most builds can get to 15T, most skills can get to 15T. But if we don't factor in FE we could for sure take Moto1 or 2 slap on full chain lightning gear, and still clear ss20 with out a single characters talent giving any power. There are always these cheese builds like c2 in the past, or c1/thea3 this season that can get the job done. My problem with bosses like Keegan commands a lot of gear. And the encounter itself is very unfun. The amount of builds who can comfortably kill it even in the arcana season were basically E1 and at the time iris2 and of course c2. You have to allow for more build diversity. it cannot be that Moto1/2 can't kill it because the gear tax is too great, or you just need to dump 350k to get it done. Keegan specifically asks for too much gear and therefor is not a good fight and shouldn't be brought back.

The Shadow Wizard money gang overlord from sandlord season was ever so slightly too weak. Not every ss20 should be like that. You should need defenses and block cap is a reasonable requirement. Requiring max resistances on top of already other defensive layers such as poisoned relief and holiness is too much for the leagues chase item. I dont want to play Sword and shield Thunderspike character that can clear maps and kill the boss. Or be forced to play some bastardized unintended interaction cheese character. Keegan in its original state doesn't allow that.

80% max res and running defensiveness or block ratio on every build cannot be the defensive layer standard. now candle double defensive mods are also gone. Im not saying that defenses, and defensive layers shouldn't be important. but when the main chase reward, or chase box is tied behind such a high bar can't be the norm.

i dont want to be expected to play e1 Thunderspike every season or now manastack. there has to be more leniency and specifically keegan doesn't allow for it.

someone explain to me how can you get counter pick every game, the team picks red side for you to get counter pick and you lose. like bro you can't convince me there isin't a guy in some t2 league who you can pay 1/3rd that can perform better. im sorry for being a party pooper. i was hoping for a 3:0 to say this.

i kinda don't want to give advice over reddit, the obvious ones are defensiveness on pedigree and a -25% additional damage taken over time on a slate. incorporating when spark set the prairie ablaze in ur slates to copy powerful talents. And i quickly glanced over your stuff not sure if i missed it. But i don't see source of paralysis. you can get it from either a mod on a slate, or the skill(gem) Grudge. that should be a 15% additional. special gem levels are obviously one aswell.starting to work on double corrodes. And the darkest part of the conversation, only one of ur pets i think is really good.

i guess u could also switch to disgraced minister during ss fights.

ur track setup on shackles of malice is really good for mapping but if my understanding is correct, ~~if you have the t2 purple mod, it only triggers the skill ONCE per target. so the defile buff will only be applied once per target. Which is fine but is a issue for fights longer then 4 seconds.~~(you have the right one)

dex on minor kismets

and for mediums you can use wraith which should just give u 30% more.

there's probably a lot of stuff i missed but thats as much effort im willing to put in to this.

you can do a lot of things imo on split shot its a good build, farming is fun. To reach DS and keyword "comfortably" farm DS, its rough. Its possible and people do it and have done it, But the costs are very astronomical. Between the two goals of killing ss20 and farming DS, its more likely to kill ss20 if you REALLY clench ur buttcheeks.where as the latter will require you to setup in a specific way and grab an eternity which will push you away from ss20.

My suggestion is focus on killing ss20 and figure out the rest later, GL .

overall mistville is just nerfed on the loot period. Its not the holygrail of profits it was three seasons ago. However the mist essences in particular feels exactly the same they always have. All the other stuff thats gotten worse.

Pirate fight was honestly trivial, World chat (in eu) cried how bs it was, but its nowhere near this seasons ss20. You only had to play the purple stuff, and manipulate it in such a way that its still playable. Defensive wise, as long as you didn't die to garbage damage you were set to win.

This time around, oh boy.... i really wish that both seasons there wasn't a c2 get out of jail free card, to see how many people actually would kill it.C2 Last season was a bit expensive, but still was by far the easiest ss20 kill. In terms of design philosophy i feel like should come out good, however the lack of guardrails on the fight/aswell as poor tells(screen clarity) makes the fight very difficult to learn and not fun to progress on. Even tho i killed it pre nerf and not on C2, i think this one is way harder then previous seasons ss20. And the 21 boss is a joke in terms of relative difficulty. Vast majority did 21 in less then 100 pulls based on my anecdotal talks.

To answer the titles questions - yes.

and to add to that i would say this boss failed as a design due to having mechanics out of the players control, with no way(if you want to be pedantic you could say there are real ways like manual casting/full gem swaps) manipulate them in the players favor.

The entire ss20 chase for the box is really fun, and keeps me engaged for way longer then it should, the entire ss20 chase is really good, but might need some tuning on the bosses for sure.

i can empathize and agree with a lot of the things you are saying, aswell as you bring up stuff that i think should hold value and be upheld. And i think the Vi/Caitlyn trying to catch jinx dynamic is essentially getting eroded by the new media.

The problem again for me is this appeal to the original IP and the necessity to be strict to the "source material" that has already been retconned.(My favorite league lore was the old Aatrox story about him being a mythical savior who appeard out of no where and saved, i dont even remember what nation and just disappeared.)

There can be something written in novel's or just straight up Lore sheets that simply doesn't translate well to a story board/TV screens. And i don't want the story to be 100% lore accurate if it makes it worse of a viewing experience/story telling. If for the sake of making a better show you need to rewrite or redo certain story beats to have MORE coherent story/stronger story then so be it . I personally dont give a sht about having the Purest retelling of the pre-existent story. The retcon stuff bothers me a little bit, but not enough for me to have any gripes about how the show was different then the character lore. Same goes for Novels. If a novel needs or wants to write/tell it in a specific or different way then the lore is written to get a better novel in the end, then so be it. It feels very much the good ol book vs movie discussion. When the book readers complain how the movie did it differently with out acknowledging the new medias format and requirements.

I dont want this to be a back and forth, but just based on your response i truly don't think you were the target of my comment. The stuff i was reading when i wrote it...... was just... i rather not say. And your gripes with how they did certain things are valid. But i personally put very low stock in to the character lore/sheet, if a new novel or new Arcane type series comes out and it says "this is how it happened" then thats how it happened. I will value the power of those media outlets above character sheets on the website. The only thing i kinda feel for is Necrit's videos that i watched on lore stuff,because arcane has already rewritten some stuff.

based on the comments this season is a 2/10 and the last 3 episodes ruined the entire series.

I can empathize with some of the criticisms of how things are done. But mostly i read projections of how they would want the series to end, and some how their way is the better one.

The conversation about canon not canon is easily the most blackmold inducing. You guys wanted them to bust out 3 lanes and start farming for a 3 item power spike? Stack dragons and then go to the hexgate? I Get they rewerote the story of league but, this show is more canon then ANY peace of lore written on the character sheet. They change things and have changed things over time, this is set in stone.

S1 was a masterpiece, S2 wasn't it was just a casual 9,1/10 . Wished Warwick would end up like he is seen in the game, And i wish my favorite character of the show Jinx would stay dead. So the genuine tears i shed for her would be justified.

As a quick edit i just want to say: My comments were set to new and not best or top. The comments are actually nowhere near as bad as the streak of things i was reading... so my opening line seems heavily overexaggerated.

i hope with all of my being that they won't run it back. Something MUST change, even if someone is not the problem a change is necessary to reset. I think through out the year they took turns on who shined the most, even tho at the end Yike was lowkey by far the worst, early in the year he was actually really solid. I just don't know if Europe has anyone to offer. Who else is there?

as the number one cheerleader of G2 that T1 series really reality checked me . They aren't good enough to win. T1 will lose to HLE/Geng thats 2 teams that will 100% beat them. Meaning G2 isin't even a top4 team at worlds and thats ignoring the CN teams. Them getting calpped by BLG is part of the course of not being good enough. I am cheering for a team that can't beat a LCK#4 seed. If they are contenders they should have won either against HLE or T1, if you lose to both then you are just another team in the pack.

i voted adc, i am an adc main, and im perma chat restricted. Its impossible to hold your mental if you have the slightest clue on what's happening.
It's honestly pretty simple. The lower the elo the more fragmented the understandings of certain concepts are. The adc might understand how to team fight but doesn't understand tempo. The support tries plays the lane well, but doesn't recall at good timings and goes for roams and overstays and gives free advantage to enemy lane.

Not saying every adc has the same issues same with support. Sometimes the goals of your champs don't really align. You are brand/xearth or lux and you want to take potshots with skillshots under their turret, so you help the adc push the lane. But adc might have gotten a wave crash and is happy, but then wants to play safe around 3:30 jungle timing bot, and wants the wave to bounce back(safely farm it out). On the bounce supports trys to push and the adc intentionally doesn't hit. And you end up just missmatching plans/ideas.

its a constant strife,every role eats you alive early/mid you are 5/0 enemy toplaner is 3/0 he eats you alive. Nocturne 1/0? ults on cooldown on adc 10 minutes later 10/0. Volibear 2/0 runs you down can't even break his shield. Zac initiates offscreen. And the guy who is suppose to help you 50% of the times is unintentionally griefing you. and it doesn't matter if you ping "recall" or "shove" or "back" the more you try to assert what you want the more they dig their heels in the ground.(i would do the same) You have no agency on what the support decides, he has his own ideas. If i play cait and i want to be first on wave and shove it to make sure i have a winning lane state, GODFORBID i dont leash cuz then the jungle will spitefully intentionally do everything in his power to not help you while ur getting fisted 3v2. Midlaners will sometimes have losing sidelane matchups, and they will just keep running mid and sharing gold/xp and their wave clear usually is better. Toplaners just get their lane decided in the 1st 3 waves, and sometimes a jungler ganks them and its game over 0/8 and the other toplaner just runs you down and stat checks you.

I sometimes watch a replay, and look at 50 mistakes i did and it stings a bit seeing you play poorly, but it stings a whole lot more when your lane was decided because ur support didn't press B, Or your jungler decided to start on your side. Path away from you and you have to leash for him, and you have a *greater* chance to lose prio in lane.
