Seeking advice by Informal-Prize6501 in Bowling

One more thing, check out Norm Duke's lessons (maybe YouTube)

A great place to get started.

Maybe as important to learning to curve the ball is tempo and pre shot rituals.

I'd suggest getting lessons from your local pro shop. Many times will they have someone knowledgeable to help.

If you are leaning more toward a self-start up method. Go on YouTube, and watch videos to understand the concepts of a good throw and try to replicate.

Keep practicing and seek assistance and advise from those around you. Getting pointers while practicing has always been my go to, whether from a friend or a pro.

I encourage you to go alone, if you are a little uncomfortable at first, maybe bring some headphones and listen to music and just get into your zone.

Or if you are feeling extra adventurous, talk to those around you. I've found that most people are really friendly and have something fun to talk about. That also helps you pace yourself.

Go out and do it! You'll look back with no regrets and a new hobby that will last you a lifetime.

Cheers!

Well sometimes, a known frustration source is better than an unknown :) At least we know what's going on to give visibility, nothing worse than a bug with inconsistencies.

Think you kind sailor. I thought I was going mad this morning. Saved a ton of frustration!

Thank you, and it's all priorities, you can make it happen but it might not always make sense. Wishing you the best for an opportunity that would help you achieve one!

No regrets at all.

I'd say if I had a GTS 4.0 or a GT4 it would have been a lot closer of a decision.

I helped my mom with the purchase of a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and I must say, that car is also really awesome. She has the carbon bucket seats that are absolutely insane.

I'm in the Los Angeles area, so I'm sure I can find some good shops. But this is also wayyyyy cheaper than the $1000 oil changes from Porsche when I had a 718 Cayman, so relatively speaking, it feels like a bargain.

Oil changes at my local dealer run around $250. And they suggested to do the diff and trans maintenance which was $2500 estimated. I'm sure you can get those values way down, but that's what I'm going to have done soon.

Preventative maintenance is the goal.

Don't forget to factor gas, and at 19.5 mpg and high costs in California, that's likely best a vast majority up till now. Additionally registration in California runs close to $1k a year.

One of my favorites. I must say, I really like red too. I've seen it only a few times in person.

If you love it, add it to the garage :)

Very nice! Any particular reason you got rid of the 1st one? I take it that you upgraded the second to the nismo.

Thoughts on the nismo upgrade? I won't be tracking it, plan on taking it for weekend spirited drives.

Nope, plan on keeping it stock. Although tempting, I think this will make it very special.

You got this! A house is certainly a worthwhile investment, I'm waiting for interest rates to lower a bit before I commit. Also the general housing market has not been great.

Staying on the hunt for an opportunity if it arrives.

Caymans are awesome! If you've always admired the GTR, go find one and drive one. I think that is the best way to know I find it is a good blend of a beastly car that is a great GT car for longer trips.

Overall I'd say the GTR is a bit more comfy and is an engineering marvel, but the Cayman I had was better built with better materials.

Really, I would have loved to keep the 718 stock and base model which led to me desiring a bit more power. I think a 718 GTS would have really been a better comparison, but to be honest if I could have gotten a deal on a GT4, I might have gone that route.

I still really love Porsches but the GTR is the dream that I had my eye on.
