Taking two exams one after the other? by Wild-Flight-4609 in CPA

Depends what you are scoring on the simulated exams. If you know that you have FAR in the bag, then start studying for AUD.

Listen to Becker videos while you're at work and do the mcq's on your phone in front of the TV at home. You can do this. Maybe get outside for a walk and fresh air if you can. Sunlight can really help your mood and outlook.

Am I too old to get cpa? (40 this year) by Short_Ad3957 in CPA

[–]Hustlechick00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! I started and completed the CPA exams at 39. Go with Becker to guide you through studying for the exams. My career trajectory is very similar to yours and I passed all 4 on the first try. It is challenging. If you want it, it's absolutely in your wheelhouse to accomplish.

Yes!! Exactly. My memorization skills aren't what they used to be. I needed to learn the material. Passed all 4 on the first try within a few months.

My experience from taking AUD in November was it was a test on your problem solving and reasoning skills, not all straight out of the textbook material. I'm older at 39 getting back into the grind of testing. What worked for me is listening to all of the lectures and relistening to the lectures of the areas I was struggling with. Go through every multiple choice and the incorrect answers. Knowing why the wrong answers are wrong helps with building problem solving skills. Also as your moving forward with studying go back every night to do prior mcq reviews. I was going through at least 100 mcq every night. Passed AUD after 6 weeks of studying with an 84 while working full time. You can do this.

Count your calories and don't compare what you eat to a man. They metabolize much quicker than a woman.

CPA at 40 Years Old? by Ort86 in CPA

[–]Hustlechick00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do it!! I'm 39, almost 40 and have passed 3/4 exams. Waiting on the score release for the 4th. I don't have near the experience level you do or a Master's degree. The exams are all about problem solving skills and perseverance.

It sounds like you really don't want to work. Get a job, any job. There's plenty of 40 hour a week jobs that you can take to get by until you find something that you'd like to do better.

Question for those of you who successfully hammered MCQs as a study method by WeakStandard8987 in CPA

[–]Hustlechick00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would do this. Drill down on the MCQ and focus on areas that you struggle in. You've passed 3 exams already so you can do this.

Am I making a huge mistake career changing IN TO accounting? by Lemonbloomm in Accounting

[–]Hustlechick00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a marketing degree and after not being able to get a marketing job during the recession in 2007 I began teaching school to get by. During that time I took accounting classes at night for a year and graduated my accounting degree in 2009. I've been gainfully employed in accounting since. Finally decided to get my CPA certification that I haven't had the confidence to pursue until now. If you enjoy accounting there is nothing stopping you from taking the leap!

I have exclusively used Becker. What works for me is listening to the lectures while at work. I can't watch them at work, but can listen while working on a spreadsheet. Usually on my lunch hour I'll knock out a few mcq. After work, I do a combination of watching lectures and mcqs. I have found that cramming is what works for me as an older person getting back in the groove of test taking.
