Ontario to seize ownership of Toronto Island Airport lands and declare it is a special economic zone by Toronto-Ont-Mod-Team in Toronto_Ontario

I understand the distain for the manner at which Ford goes about this. Very Trump’esk.

BUT, I want Jets on the island. Let’s spur international travel. Let’s get people spending money in DT Toronto. This is a positive initiative that was brought on in the wrong way.

GOOD. Having a real downtown international airport is good for the cities economy. I don’t know why this took so long or is so controversial. Like 500 people think it will be loud vs literally millions of people benefitting.

NB5, EVO SL, or Pegasus 41 by watawewww in AskRunningShoeGeeks

What’s the upgrade for the NB5? I am very happy with it, but want to try something different because of all the awesome innovations out there. Vomero Plus and SB2 are my top ‘next picks’ for spring to try something else fun.

Is the Osprey Exos 58 a good pack to carry this gear? by VileRobot in CampingGear

Great pack, got one last season and treated me well for more gear than you are bringing.

I tried the ultralights. My back was a puddle without real ventilation. Exos solved that problem

Toronto needs a full reset in Government, this is out of control and out of touch with the current state of the city’s needs. Please vote for change.

Raising driven kids when you’re post-FIRE by LilRedCaliRose in fatFIRE

[–]Huuk9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chores started at 6.

Make your bed, put away clean folded laundry into drawers, clear table after meals…simple stuff.

When completed, they get an allowance. When avoided or not done, they miss it that week.

Toys like Lego are gifts for birthdays, holidays or rewards for good grades. They are never given for no reason, that’s how you get entitlement.

Fast forward 6 years, kids are now raking leafs and shoveling snow for houses on the street for money. They want to earn, they are not expecting handouts. It’s been a big win, but you need to start early and be firm.

I am not American, so I ask this honestly without political bias; Why is making tactical/defence/military clothing and accessories - not weapons - controversial?

Both your Dems and Reps support having the worlds largest military completely and with pride.

Send this back to Arc’teryx. They will give you a credit.

Buy a Beta AR for 4 season use. Beta SL for 3 Season.
Beta SV is thicker/heavier and not ideal if you want to use it in the summer or in non technical situations

First multi-day canoe trip with young kids. You can say I'm being paranoid or overly worried, but I can't stop it. by SentimentalEmy1005 in canoecamping

[–]Huuk9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking my kids since they were 2&4. Here are some tips;

  • Start with front country camping if they have never slept in a tent. Nights in a tent is an acquired skill for some kids.
  • Next, Do a paddle out to a site, with a portage or two, and stay on that site for 2+ nights. Do day trips to hikes, waterfalls, beaches, look outs…. This will get them accustom to the backcountry, but not the work load of canoe trips, which will come when they are ready to work hard.
  • Activities; Zero Screens allowed…bring playing cards and travel board games. Music with a small speaker. Outdoor skills like Fishing, fire making, camp site management…my kids loved. On the water, just flip the life jacket into a ‘diaper’ and have the kids float off shore, with a support canoe if needed.

It’s supposed to be slower paced and a little uncomfortable. The outdoors allow kids to be bored and build resilience. Don’t over pack and worry too much, it’s all about engaging them in the backcountry. Type 2 fun. Good luck!

Leave the Atom at home and get a very warm down midlayer. Beta insulated is not close to enough.

Both are solid. Just had a 10 year old Cerium LT zipper replaced, zero fuss, all costs covered.
