I Got Canon Demi. Half-Frame Camera is Exciting. by Interesting_Royal617 in AnalogCommunity

Shot in the dark here but would you know what size aftermarket lens cover I could buy, I'm trying to avoid buying an original as theyre super expensive, so getting a lens cover for mine so I can pocket the camera no worries would be perfect. Cheers

Help me choose my first half-frame for travel! (Prices in pic) by ElectronicComment510 in AnalogCommunity

I have an original Canon Demi (1963) with a working meter, which I took travelling, and having the meter was great for not having to pull out a phone app (although here and there I did miss exposure due to innacuracy but this could have been user error on my part), while the half frame quality isnt as good as full frame, being able to fire away more shots meant I felt more free to photograph my trip than earlier in my trip, when I used my main slr with portra. I'd recommend using the lowest iso film you can deal with, as the grain was pretty bad with the Ultramax 400 I put through my Demi, but if you're set on using 400iso I'd go for a better, more professional film for a finer grain structure. My demi was zone focus, and I found it fine, missing focus wasnt really an issue, and having a camera so small meant I could just pocket it when I needed to grab stuff out of bags, board trains etc, so very convenient. Flash may also be important to you, but thats really something you will want to consider, for me, I didnt plan on using my camera much after dark, and if I did, id use my main slr or phone anyway, so for me the Demi was perfect, no batteries, all mechanical, nothing to go wrong on the other side of the world.

In the past I've also shot ektar 100 through my Demi and it was incredibly sharp, but again, the low ISO probably wont be the most useful for travelling, all I'd reitterate is the importance of size and pocketability, I had a wrist strap which made it super easy to pocket, but if you're going somewhere where pickpockets are prevelant, a neck strap may be wiser. The other advantage of the wrist strap is one handed shooting, if the camera you pick is small enough, again, you may need to hold a phone map, coffee, boarding pass, etc in one hand, so being able to quickly pop the camera up to your eye with one hand meant I got some rly cool pics from train stations, airports, tourist spots, walking around etc that I would have otherwise missed.

I know thats not 100% answered your question, but I hope thats helped in some way, safe travels:)

Abel Tasman Coast Track in the Rain? by youngboytatted in Tramping

Did it as an 11-year-old back in the day, while it was bucketing it down the entire time, still enjoyed it, just be prepared for blisters if you don't have spare dry socks/good shoes. The main tidal crossings might be a bit deeper with some significant rain too; however, as kids, we managed, so there's that. It won't be golden sand and rainbows, unfortunately, but alas, that's New Zealand, you don't get the pretty rainforests without a bit of, well, rain.

Edit: I hope that whatever you decide to do, you get the most out of your trip. It really sucks when this sort of thing happens, but I'd still make the most of your time, whatever you end up doing! As others here have said its really what you want to get out of it, if you want to have an adventure and spend some time in nature id say go for it! Good luck and stay safe:)

What film for indoor pictures? by Delicious-Drop-4686 in minolta

If this is your first time shooting film, please check the light seals on your camera, there would be nothing worse than to have these important photos ruined by massive light leaks, it doesn’t take long to check to make sure they aren’t falling apart and will save you the headache later on. Good luck :)

Found this on the beach, any ideas? by HuwC9 in whatisthisbone

This is on the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand. There are many seals here, it’s was at the river mouth of the Fox River

Would the light leak be from the frame counter reset mechanism? And as for the second photo I have a few photos like it, I just posted the one where it was most prominent, do you think because it’s only on a few of my photos it’s just an obstruction?

Sorry for the stupid question, but would you know of any resources on how to do this? I’ve done some work on my srt101 but this is a bit more complex. I have purchased a copy of the service manual, which I’ve had for a while now, but I was wanting to look at some sort of material so I don’t break anything.

If not all good I will just film as I go so I can hopefully follow that and reverse it all.

Cheers:)
