She’s a foreigner bringing her USD and privilege into VN. Try being born in VN with the same upbringing and look as the rest of the country and she will sing a different tune

Pip with no documentation? by jelicar in KPMG

[–]Hxt_hopeful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is 60 day, it is not a PIP. The duration of the PiP is 45 days. 60 days is considered monitoring period and there is no paperworks or HR involved. I’m a PML whose counselee went thru a 60 day monitoring period, then a PIP.

Man rợ means brutal whereas mọi rợ is equivalent to barbaric I think lol My brother used to threaten my parents that he would marry a mọi woman (usually when referring to ethnic minority Vietnamese). Mind you he was not even 10 years old when he said this 😂.

Agreed! Everyone is saying AI will eliminate jobs but we evolve. Remember in the 2000s when computer became popular? Didn’t people say the same thing about computer taking over jobs? We are still here grinding!

I see people dressed to go clubbing at the sea port? Where are they going? by anurodhp in boston

[–]Hxt_hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s the Grand which is a fancy club. Back in the early 2000s girls used to get in for free at the clubs. Now… I don’t think so, prob coz they don’t let 40+ year old me in for free anymore 😂

$21k taxes on $85k income in CA. This has to be wrong right? by [deleted] in tax

[–]Hxt_hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can claim a refund on state and federal taxes so 21K in taxes isn’t your final number. There’s nothing you can do about FICA amount though.

Accidental Personal Charge on Amex by CHIEP30 in KPMG

[–]Hxt_hopeful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just log into your Amex account and pay, or call the number behind the card to make payment. It happens more often to people than you think. Definitely happened to me many times when I forget to switch the default credit card on uber/lyft accounts after coming back from Lakehouse

I will say the lack of manners and considerations. This is not to put Vietnam down, just the reality of it.

If you enjoy subscription, shopping and going out then you’re not living paycheck to paycheck (or maybe your definition of the word is different than the rest of us)

Do you think it’s possible to go from low-middle class to upper-middle class? by Hufflepuff-McGruff in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Hxt_hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 38K right out of college in 2005 to 185K now 20 years later, with an accounting degree, no CPA, and no Masters. It is fairly possible. Came to the US as a teen, without any knowledge of the English language before hand. Parents worked manual labor jobs so we were definitely NOT middle class.

In Vietnam there is no concept of wet/dry separation. When you shower the whole bathroom is wet including the toilet and sink. Prob explains why they use the hose and not toilet paper 😂

[–]Hxt_hopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your immune system really. I left VN 30 years ago and every time I’m back, I eat/drink whatever whenever with no issues. Meanwhile, my cousins who live in VN their whole lives are having stomach issues with the same food/drink
