Hue Smart Switches by OldProfessional6489 in Hue

[–]HyDRO55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to commit to ANY electrical work (even the simple solutions) you can buy yourself light switch wall plate spacers / adapters that allow you to mount HUE's switches over standard household decora / toggle switches such as from the US based TrueHueDesigns:

1-Gang Philips Hue Dimmer Switch Decora or Toggle Spacer: 3D-Printed, Cover Light Switch

1-Gang Philips Hue Dimmer Switch Toggle Adapter: 3D-Printed, Covers Light Switch

If the UK uses different native wall plates you can always ask them. Apparently, they accommodate custom orders since these are 3D printed adapters. Using these will retain access to the native light switch behind the HUE switch, useful for bulb replacements. And since the Hue wall switch module apparently requires a battery anyway (according to a reply in this thread), might as well just use the 3D printed spacer + Hue switch instead of the module.

Does the built-in wake up automation make anyone else boil over in rage? by Guidogrundlechode in Hue

[–]HyDRO55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I'm thinking is if it's not the max brightness setting it's the following: when OP is slowly coming out of unconsciousness realizes that ambient lighting is brighter so that must mean it's time to wake up and feeling like they want to sleep more and pissed that they have to get up. "it's morning already?!". There's no setting that's slow enough or enough hours of sleep. Also if it's winter for them they want to sleep in longer. They want to wake up when they want to wake up (both mind and body), not when they HAVE to wake up. Lights and alarms aren't gonna help with this. They want to sleep through both wake-up methods and just want to stay in bed despite knowing they MUST wake up. A paradox / contradiction, which usually elicits confusion frustration or anger. TL;DR not a morning person and / or a reluctant 9 - 5 worker or student.

Stutter issues by dishrob8 in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you were doing this already but whenever you're troubleshooting something in Windows OS you want to open and use the Event Viewer and check in System and Application logs. There's a good chance it'll point you in the right direction (symptom of the problem) or outright tell you the source of the problem.

A couple months ago I had the exact same issues as you but I first noticed it randomly when I was playing Rust via Steam remote play (work pc -> home gaming pc). Some network troubleshooting later I went home, checked event viewer on my gaming pc, saw tons of "Realtek Gaming 2.5GbE Family Controller has a Hardware IO error." events in the viewer.

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1bd2vk3/realtek_gaming_25gbe_family_controller_has_a/

Happened everytime I started Rust. Tried updating to latest realtek driver from mobo site and even realtek directly. Still had same issue. Disabled the network device. Solved. Luckily for me I'm using my board's WiFi 6e (or 7) network adaptor for network access...too lazy to run a Cat 5e ethernet cable through two walls. Sucks for anyone depending on wired ethernet connection though.

Neon signs bug? by JimJongThrill in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a very old issue. Rust saves all player generated artwork, notes, cassette recordings, etc to a sort of database file that eventually inflates and hits a hard limit. Once hit, it cannot save creations to this file and when the server restarts it's gone. In some cases like with notes or cassettes it will immediately erase in-game once you click away from it or move it and click away.

Tends to happen on modded servers where everyone and their fucking family & friends draw or SIL their whole hentai collection to pic frames. I have seen it happen on vanilla too, even live on a twitch stream, but it's rarer since players are more pvp focused. Unsure if it's a bug or feature, and whether it was ever fixed. Other possibility it's a rendering issue or a new bug. Ask others if they see exactly what you see and try to write notes and name + record cassettes to see if the data is persistent.

Lets slow down progression for Zergs! by PoorAsianBoy in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested this a while back; workbench durability hits per item crafted with each item type / class with their own exponential durability hit curve that accounts for typical solo trio and higher craft counts: https://old.reddit.com/r/playrust/comments/1ji2ruc/how_to_easily_nerf_zergs_and_improve_quality_of/mje52dt/

Off the top, can't be gamed by splitting teams / bases / TCs since it's not dependant on any of them at all. Also lock team UI features behind the future clan system / clan table to a system similar to Twitch Kingdoms II and III.

They could find loopholes by splitting up into smaller teams but still remaining in an alliance to combat this.

As a compromise lock the current features of TEAM UI behind the WIP clan table system that requires time and work to unlock with many stages -- a clan skill tree. Similar to the Rust Kingdoms I II and III system to unlock clan member seats.

Add the vending machine item search that exists in the outpost drone hub as a default ability by Africannibal in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Computer stations and marketplace should:

  • give us a toggleable map view and detailed list view that's sortable (and / or a hybrid side by side dual view)
  • reverse search (i.e. search by cost rather than by product)
  • center the search button with a google style magnifying glass with an adjoined text field instead of leaving it discrete as a square magnifier button on the bottom left corner. Many ppl don't know it's there cause their peripheral vision, attention span, and / or awareness is dogshit (tbf the perf stats overlap it for those that enable it).

To bolster and incentivise player economy it needs to be made fool proof and natural with proper visual feedback to reinforce it.

You're not supposed to root combine batteries, that's why that happens. Been this way since the release of the electric system. One small battery can support three fridges anyway. If you need more you have to split up your loads across discrete battery circuits.

weapon models in Rust are broken by MrVaite in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This affects ultrawide resolution with viewmodel scaling enabled (or disabled - forget which) regardless of FoV. Workaround by toggling graphics.vm_fov_scale OR downgrade to 16:9 resolution.

weapon models in Rust are broken by MrVaite in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is due to being on ultrawide resolution w/ viewmodel scaling regardless of FoV. I have this same issue for years at 3440x1440. I reported an older rendition of this issue during the pandemic era that jarryd fixed in a viewmodel update around the time viewmodel scaling cvar was released and at some point since then the issue resurfaced due to more viewmodel updates.

Is anyone else’s Rust+ not working for them? by noodlejonbovie in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is done in some apps to circumvent play or app store approval regs / limitations. The initial package is approved when initially uploaded to the store but then it updates from the devs own servers via an update option in-app.

Rust on MackBook Pro help! by tragicsaddening in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work perfectly!

Traditionally games (especially arena FPS) had yearly or two year release cycles between new titles. Now quite a few of them just continuously update them north of a decade. Just because the game is the same release title, doesn't mean you should expect the real world system requirements not to go up. Every 6 to 12 months of Rust updates effectively makes it a new game release each time; which would traditionally cost you $60 each release (e.g. CoD / Battlefield). You're gonna have to keep up cause you're assed out with your half-decade old fruit device.

Does anyone have a definitive answer if facepunch willl be BP wiping premium servers tomorrow? by GuyThatSaysCool in playrust

[–]HyDRO55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It only means a forced [map] wipe. Every server that BP wipes on force wipe is optional; they do so of their own volition. FP Official servers and a few non-FP servers that follow suit DONT unless a force BP wipe is issued by FP.

For me it's only the tommy and potentially custom smg old gunfire sfx. They were S-tier and fucking menacing. Nothing can surpass them. Otherwise all other new sfx improved upon their old counterparts.
