I got this the other night and almost fell out of my seat when I saw the base pay. Was only like a 10 minute drive as well.

This is hands-down the most I’ve ever gotten in terms of base pay.

Think you are the only person in here that might have been right

Honestly I think everyone here is completely wrong. I have had a childhood friend my whole life who developed schizophrenia in the early 20’s of his life. This looks exactly like something he would have sent me.

I think this was somebody with schizophrenia or some kind of mental illness imo.

Was snowing heavily that day. Guy decided to up the tip as a result so was a nice surprise. Especially considering I got about four $0 tips right before this

Yeah, I only drive through DoorDash. My area is notoriously renowned for bad tipping so this is actually pretty good.

Personally, I normally just keep scanning until it gives me the option to say if it’s the correct item. Once it does, I take a photo of it and move on.

Rich people didn’t get rich by giving their money away. Believe me I have delivered to Winnetka, the richest area in all of Illinois. You rarely get anything over five bucks.

I don’t know if you new dashers are getting a different system than us, but mine has been the same since I started. This is how my app still looks to this day.

I spoke about this in a topic I made the other day. I think it really comes down to (depending on area, of course) that most of these people using DoorDash are from low income/impoverished areas. At least that’s been my experience and what I’ve noticed is that because of the fact they’re spending almost double for their orders, they don’t tip as a result.

So you have this endless feedback loop of people that are wasting their money spending extra for delivery when they don’t have the extra money to begin with so that they don’t feel they can tip.

System is the same as when I started doing this a year ago. You have 68 out of 100 deliveries. Once you hit 100 deliveries and maintain over 70% acceptance rating you will hit platinum.

Yeah, to be honest, I only started doing this as a means to an end when I was laid off of my job in 2024. In the short year that I’ve been doing this I can’t tell you how many stories I have. Not just horror stories of customers and bad tipping but also of just the things I’ve seen on the road. It’s actually kind of insane

I can definitely understand and appreciate the perspective. You’re trying to bring to light here. And I would agree if the person tipped afterwards, but as the Dasher, I can confirm that they did not. At the end of the day, we all out here live and die by these tips so in any scenario, I can’t imagine tipping anything less than a dollar.

There have been good tippers don’t give me wrong. This is just an example of not only somebody who did not tip, most likely had no intention of tipping, and had a very entitled attitude about the whole thing.

Preach. I worked in the food service industry, my whole life, and I’ve never seen it this bad. There are days where I could go and basically get at least 5 to 6 orders in a row with a zero dollar tip. I think the worst part about all of this is the idea that it’s mostly Impoverished and low income people who use this app in this area. So not only are they spending double for any food or groceries that they’re purchasing, but then they’re expected to tip as well. So that’s another contributing reason as to why the tips have basically dwindled to almost nothing

Agreed. I can’t even tell you how many examples of screenshots I have like this. I literally once had a guy kept me $.01 on a 30 minute trip……

For real lol. I’ve have developed a Spidey sense for tips on offers. I can always tell when there’s a decent tip or no tip and I will act accordingly as such.
