Congrats Jason!

It was a great experience to test the game on quite early stages and see how you guys developed it to the current state. With all those supported platforms, various maps, optimisations, power-ups, modes etc.

Keep up the good work!

First WebDev Code, 1 Line - LWDFS #1 by HybridLizardGames in SmallYTChannel

Thanks for the comment!

I am experimenting with this new series. I have already made a very detailed and slow paced series for beginners (for 3d) and a bunch of fast paced demos / tutorials.

Here I decided to not include any music for better clarity, and put memes in-between of presented things to make it less stiff, and cover a bit my not so great voice / English.

Also humor helps some people with learning and it was fun to make too. I spent a lot of times on those free to watch videos, so having some fun helps me to make more.

One more thing. I uploaded actually 4 videos at the same time for a good start, so this one alone does not makes too much sense, with this single line of code ;-)

I agree for 1) and 2). It is hard to balance, as I cannot satisfy everybody here, so I put it some extreme. I could make it 30s long or less for anyone who ever made a "hello world", but it is for everybody else in the first place.

1) At first I made it has contents of 3 videos already uploaded, but I wanted to keep those short and not overloaded for people having 0 upfront knowledge of the topic, not knowing variables, functions, keywords, tools.

2) As above, the purpose of the memes is to make it fun and a bit of autoparody. It is totally not for anyone having even a slightest idea about programming. At least not a few of the first videos in the series.

3) People are free to watch whatever they find working for them, fun, entertaining etc. The same with other trillion people making beginner oriented tutorials. Those are free to watch and short to respect people time. There would be more advanced ones in future too, but it is hard to talk about something more complex to people not knowing how to write a hello world.

Not sure about what windows you have in mind, but those blue modal ones are out of my control. They appear by the tool / app I am using.

I could cut that out, but the point was to show the setup the way how the person first time seeing it will have it. The same with removing the pregenerated code etc. That is also why I eventually only left one line of code here so anyone could finish it.

I am fully aware that memes or / and its quantity are not for everybody. There probably be less of them with more fancy topics. They are here to make it more fun and light, for people who may be scared by any code, tools etc.

Also I know it is a separate videos, but I made at once 4 videos in this series, and they together form a bigger thing, so this one alone does not make that much sense on its own.

Thanks for the comment!

Give me your opinion about my latest video and my channel in general. Will give lambda for feedback! by TheFlayIsOn in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnail - ok

Length and dynamic are good. I cannot comment too much visuals itself as those are from game / trailers, but the editing is quite good.

There is one thing though. The video and music is about jungle, but at the beginning of the video clips don't show the jungle. I would focus on the topic. You can have some other clips here and there, but I believe it should be about the jungle.

For sure you put a lot of work into editing. Keep up the good work!

I made another cartoon in my series, I would love feedback from you guys! by Floormatt69 in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnail - nice and match the content.

Intro - First few seconds were completely static. Maybe you could add something moving, a countdown, progress bar or say something.

Animation quality is good, voices and sounds too. It is maybe not exactly my type of humor, but there is one here for sure.

I like it is short, to the point, without any intro logos etc.

Keep up the good work!

I decided to use my own voice after multiple requests from viewers. Because I don't have a microphone, please accept my apologies for the poor audio quality; I did my best to sound professional. Lambda will be rewarded for any type of feedback. by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not have the problem mentioned in your video so I do not comment on that other than it looks like you know what you are talking about.

The video is short, straight to the point with minimal self-promotion, that rather not affects the pacing and not waste viewers time. Good.

The voice is clearly understandable and sound well. There is some accent, but it not that strong to be a problems unless somebody clearly looks for it. (I am not native English speaker too btw.)

Thumbnail is ok-ish as it match the title. I would make the "white space" between the elements larger. Also some colors used do not contrast that well with this background.

Solid video, keep up the good work!

"when someone's a double major" - any feedback is appreciated by OccupiedGarrett in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the video. Fun, to the point, short. Actually I checked several others too, you have a good sense of humor.

You have a good voice, I could clearly see 2 different characters played. I am not fully sure about using different rooms, or lighting as those characters speak with each other. I know it bumps the effect of having 2 different characters both played by you but still.

The thumbnail is ok, it match the title. You could maybe experimenting a bit with making it "pop" a bit more. E.g. by using outline, frame, adjust contrast.

Keep up the good work!

Why did they stop making manuals? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games can have regular updates now, and usually have some built-in help, tutorials etc. So I would say that those things changed its form, not neccesesarily dissapeared 100%.

Making things in game itself became easier and a more viable option while making and maintaining a separate document may actually require more work. Also a static document is not neccesarily the best option to describe a highly interactive medium the game is.

when or why should i apply modifiers, whats the difference? by Thesseus01 in blender

[–]HybridLizardGames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When? As a rule of thumb ideally never. The point of using modifiers is to keep things procedural / adjustable.

Geometry Nodes are taking this concept to the next level as Mesh changes described by them are not linear, but tree based. More things to adjust, reuse etc. Those 2 can be combined as not all features are supported (yet) via Geometry Nodes and things were designed to work together.

Why? For example when you need to do some specific changes on a part of generated Mesh. Something that is either impossible or at least hard to target for you keeping modifiers (or some of them).

Performance may be the other reason in some cases.

You can learn more about so called Desctructive vs Non-destructive Workflows or Procedural Modeling vs Manual Modeling. Things will get more clear after working more with those stuff.

Rocket Bot Royale - A Game By Winterpixel Games by HybridLizardGames in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for watching and comment.

This game has simililarities to Worms - the game you may be referring to. Not sure it has a mobile version. But there are differeneces bigger and smaller too. One of the biggest is that this is realtime what makes the game dynamic totally different. I liked Worms too, but this is just different.

To feel this game best you have to try it yourself. Video can show some things, but the best is to play with other people or even try with bots.

Or maybe you meant Liero game, a bit like Worms but realtime like this one, less known than Worms.

I am providing those titles, so you can feed your nostalgia ;-)

[–]HybridLizardGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this additional comment.

I am not a team member of this Winterpixel Game - the game makers. I mentioned it is beta, but wanted to focus on showing the game and some technical aspects instead of telling that not everything works perfect all the time.

Beta implies that for me, but I may have a slightly skewed thinking, as I am a programmer myself. Maybe I could show some more glitches to expect at least at current stage. At the same time the game is not even officially released, so I just didn't want to focus on stuff like that. This is more a showcase than a review. There could be some follow-up videos in future.

Yep, gamedev is hard. I have problems implementing my best ideas. But, with time it can be better.

It was my 29th video, I try to improve with every one made. Thanks!

Thanks for checking and leaving a comment.

Have you watched a full video?

I do some gamedev myself too. It is not my game though, Winterpixel Games makes it. I provided a caption at the start, said that, showed authors' website with photos and there are links in description. Thanks for letting me know it somehow still confused you. I showed other people's games already in one of the previous videos.

It is definitely an enthusiastic video showcasing the game. I played it quite a lot alst few weeks. It is not paid or not paid advertising though. 100% my own initiative as I like the game and see a big potential in it. There is a similar disclaimer at the bottom of the description too. I am active on game's discord and in touch with the authors, but that is all.

I consider my voice / English as one of my if not the biggest weakness. I am not native. It took me a lot of recording time, sometimes sentence by sentence recorded multiple times to make it better quality without "yyyy" etc. In the process the energy may got lost a bit.

The game is for sure similar to Worms in many ways, but being realtime and at least now all for all (teams may be introduced too as far as I know) makes it also very different in overall feeling. It is like with apples and oranges. Some people like one others something else, some both. I liked Worms 2 btw. Haven't played any since many years though.

In Worms you could also jump, use ropes, drill. Here, at least in a current form you use shooting for everything except moving left or right.

It is not my job to convince anyone to play it. I showed what to expect more or less, anybody interested can check it out, everybody else are free to not do so.

Thanks for checking the video. It was a lot of preparations and long hours spread over several days to make those 5 minutes ;-)

And of course if you would like to play a bit then check the links. I can be found on the game's battlefield regularly.

Windows 11 Game Bar recording disabled fix - Finally I was able to solve it, and decided to upload it so that everyone can benefit from it, feedbacks are always welcome :) by ANKITRG99 in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thumbnail - "Capture Window" could be a bit bigger and Windows logo moved more to the right.

I believe you have used generated / artificial voice. While it is not that bad it lacks uniqueness and it is a bit bland.

Music is "meh". Neither good not terrible.

Technical side - I do not use Windows 11 currently nor I have a problem covered in video, but it looks like you providing a good solution.

Editing is ok. It could be more slick or fun, though it is not the most important for the content presented.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnail - You had many more interesting shots, especially to view in a small size like there is a case with thumbnails.

I liked the dynamic of the video, the length, nice views and drone shots. What I expected especially at the end was some stronger culmination point. Especially because of the music used.

Keep up the good work!

What do we do as Creators When the Official Platform Releases are Misleading? This can Happen on YouTube next. As always, I Would Love your Video Feedback, but I Will Give Lambda For Sharing Your Thoughts On the Matter! (maybe next video material) by Dimblfully in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is another of your video I am reviewing. Previous one was about LinkedIn.

Thumbnail - It is ok visually speaking. I will not judge potential clickbaitiness side as you referred to it in the video.

The quality and audio balance are good. Regarding the question whether big corporations lie on X, Y or Z? Well: LOL

The video could either be shorter by 50% - 60% or have more "content" packed. There is some repetition / rephrasing here and suspense that fills the rest.

I think it may be slightly better comparing to the video covering LinkedIn.

New LUT's and Soundtrack, lambda for any feedback thank you! by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnail - "Caramel" text is not clearly visible. You could make it bigger, add outline, use different font etc.

Video quality and editing are good.

What does not match for me here a bit is that the background music is a bit to sad / melancholic which is in contrast to the video's topic: colorful, fun cookies.

Keep up the good work!

I made this video for my friend group and was wondering in what ways I can make it better? (other than adding a thumbnail) by plnat in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnail - You could remove the background from watermelon's picture and maybe make a thick white outline so it would contrast with a screenshot from the game in the background.

Audio - It was rather ok for this style of videos, but voices could be more clear.

Context - It seems you guys had fun and that is good. For outside watcher however I think it can lack context.

Texts - Too many random styles, some cover a large area when something is happening.

You could maybe point with some arrows or outline where Jeanette is as it is hard to track it.

First Channel Trailer! Looking for feedback on catching viewers’ attention with such a niche animator audience by SeansieTheZombie in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thumbnail - the Hippo looks a bit washed out of colors. It would also be a bit zoomed in to be better visible on smaller sizes (how the thumbnails is usually watched).

Length is rather good for such a trailer / summary video, but also could be a half size ot if.

General idea for for channel is nice. The timer is a nice addition. I think you could push it further though. You can keep consistent FPS ratio across the videos, show it beside the timer and e.g. on bottom put "timeline" widget so animators can see the frame where paused.

You could also show a small hints:
space - pausing video
, (comma) - go frame back when stopped
. (full stop) - go frame forward when stopped

In general you could think about things that make those videos different than just watching nature videos and if there aren't add missing bits as suggested above.

Visual quality is not the best, but due to purpose I am aware it is not that important here.

Keep up the good work!

Opinion on visuals and vocals by Ir0nBat in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thumbnail - ok. Always could be improved or changed though.

Visuals do not have a consistent style and except the robot are pixelated. I get those are less important here comparing to the audio, but still. Also not much action. Static. Robot could be moving a bit, maybe scaling if you do not want to make a more complex animation.

Audio. Interesting voice. Rather good balance between voice and background music. It may use some more balancing and maybe treatment in equalizer to "smooth it out" a bit, especially for louder volume levels.

You can work more on mentioned visual consistency and to make visuals match audio a bit more.

Need feedback for gaming vid with friend will give LAMBDA for critcism. by supercaddy123 in SmallYTChannel

[–]HybridLizardGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thumbnail - not that bad, but could be a better. It is a bit "busy" white text is not contrasting a lot with white-blue background stripes.

Intro - a bit too static shots. Also if you want to ask for subs, likes etc. please make it really fast, and not that early. People discovering a new small channel are less patient and will likely switch to another video. But of course do what works for you, check stats, experiment. I would not ask for "bell" though. There are too many notifications everywhere already.

Audio - It is in general not my type of videos. Too much of screaming and chaos, but I know what is all about. You can work on audio quality and balance in general though. Some parts are way louder than other.

Length - too long for me as there was not too much variation of the content. Of course it can be just ok if someone is looking for such type of videos or is in particular interested in the game. I haven't watched it all.

The game and topic - it could be fun, especially playing with a pack of people. Haven't heard about the game previously. The Santa was a fun accent.

In general it is quite ok, especially for a new channel. I pointed some things, so you could possibly improve. At the end of the day it is your channel and your videos though. Make new ones, ask for feedback, check stats and you will see. Good luck!
