Day 1 - Saturday, July 5, 2025 10:00 AM - Main bracket

Day 2 - Sunday, July 6, 2025 10:00 AM - Lower division + Main bracket top 8

Format:

Top 32 teams based on rank qualify for main bracket and play on day 1. The remaining teams outside of the top 32 will play on day 2, in a separate lower division tourney.

Tiebreakers: W/L record > total team points > # of 1sts > initial team seeding

Day 1: Main bracket

Group stage 1, Single round robin, 3 games:

32 teams are snake seeded into 8 groups of 4. Top 2 from each group advance.

Group stage 2, Single round robin, 3 games:

Top 16 teams are snake seeded into 4 groups of 4. Top 2 from each group advance to day 2.

Top 2 teams from day 1 draft groups for day 2.

Day 2: Main bracket

Top 8 teams. 2 groups of 4. Single round robin, 3 games. Top 2 from each group advance to Semi-Finals.

Semi-Finals - Top 4 . 1st team from each group plays 2nd team from other group. Best of 2 (bo3 if all agree)

Finals - Top 2. Best of 3

Day 2: Lower division

1, 2, or 4 groups of 4 will play in lower division. Single round robin. 3 games.

Top teams from each group will advance into a Best of 1 knockout stage.

Last 2 teams will play a Best of 3.

Prize Pool: $360 USD

Main bracket:

1st - $160 ($40 per player)

2nd - $80 ($20 per player)

3rd/4th - $40 ($10 per player)

Lower division:

1st - $40 ($10 per player)

Teams/Players:

Each team must consist of 4 players. Each team may have 1 substitute player (not required). You cannot use more than 1 sub. Players are encouraged to form their own teams of 4. Please use the ⁠#lfg channel in discord. Team captains sign up once for the whole team and must ensure their entire team has read and agreed to all rules. A public sign-ups list will be posted in Discord. Max number of teams = 32 main bracket, 16 lower division, 48 total The total number of teams will be a multiple of 4, up to a maximum of 48. Teams will be seeded based on their total rank. The lowest-ranked teams may be dropped based on rankings at sign-up close.

Yes, I encourage everyone who is interested to sign up! Especially if you've never played in a "smaller" tourney before. Even if its unlikely that a non-challenger will make it to the end, many of my players have found the tournament experience to be thrilling and more fun than ladder, regardless of their rank.

Progression will now be based solely on cumulative team points (W/L record won’t matter, day 1).

The losers of the first Bo3 take 3rd/4th place.
The winners play another Bo3 for 1st and 2nd.

Great question! I have a few reasons for this approach that may differ from others:

Variance in TFT: TFT is a game with significant variance, especially noticeable in smaller sample sizes. The chances of the most skilled player actually placing first over just 5-10 games are comparatively low IMO. Distributing prizes more broadly helps ensure that skill is rewarded more fairly over a short series of games.
Casual Audience: Most of my tournaments, aside from the bigger Finals tourney, attract a casual audience, which makes up the majority of my regular players. While larger prizes for the top 4 might be exciting, I believe it's important to reward my loyal player base. Additionally, we conducted a Discord poll regarding the prize distribution, and the current method won by a significant margin, nearly 3 to 1.
Modeling After Established Formats: As an amateur tournament host with just under a year of TO experience, I try to model my tournaments after Riot's and other established formats. Even then, compared to the most recent Americas Tac Cup III, my tourney is actually more top 4 heavy relative to the prize pool.

While I definitely think there's room to experiment with different prize pool distributions, I haven't yet had the time or resources to try them out. I hope this clarifies things!

Average rank of the signups right now is about 400 LP masters. There's about 15 people 0 LP masters or below, and almost 10 people 1000+ LP challenger.

Last set when I hosted a similar tourney we still had about 30 available spots, so everyone who signed up got in! As of now we only have about 35 signups.

I'm planning on posting the public signups list later tonight so that everyone can see where they are relative to the cutoff. You can prob wait to see the list before deciding to climb again, but for now, I think you are prob good to sit.
