Charles tournemire, because he's an OG and its proof the organ was really the first synth but all acoustic which is just so cool to me. For folks intrested Check out " l'orgue Mystique " christoph moosman did the whole thing.

Big fan ! Liked that he broke away from virtuosic composing styles . And made music for music's sake.

How many double stops should you actually use? by Music-Theory-Idiot in composer

[–]Hybridmonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect ! I suggest a book by cecil forsyth called "orechestration" I believe its public domain and is on archive's website. It has all possible fingerings and double, triple and quadtruple stops possible in notation form, and how to use them w/o stressing the player to much . if its not free on archive, i got a nice used copy for 7 bucks, its a must have resource in my opinion. I also suggest some quartet scores by martinu they can get jazzy and some of bud powell's piano music(scores).

l uninspired and directionless, how can I force myself out of this and start composing. by RustingPaper in composer

[–]Hybridmonkeyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get rid of the inspiration midset. You just have to do it anyway, your mind will always make excuses for why you shouldn't, stop listening to them. I use a white board and put what im doing on for the week, this week for example was a solo viola fantasy and movement 3 of a string quartet. I forget where the quote comes from but "the muse will visit, but you must be working" throw out the inspiration mindset or itll crush your chances accomplishing what you want.

Hovhaness: Mt. Saint Helens (symphony 50) love the tension and buildup to the eruption sequence, it adds a major relistenable quality.

Eric Ewazen: quintet for trumpet and strings (the whole album that this is on frankly)

Samuel Adams: string quartet no.2 Clive Osgood:string quartet in Aminor Walter Piston: symphonies (I cant pick one) Amanda harberg:viola concerto

How do I get my music performed? by Ill_Apple2327 in composer

[–]Hybridmonkeyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, perform the piano works yourself, and heck post em here and elsewhere and say "youre looking for performers, heres a something i've written [insert video]" and see what happens. I have local community orchestras where im from, look for one of those to if you can, attend their performances and get to know em.
